Penn Station East Coast Subs Named To Training Magazine Training Top 125 List For Second Year In A Row

Company Moves Up 12 Spots To No. 78 On List

February 21, 2018 // Franchising.com // MILFORD, OHIO - Penn Station East Coast Subs, the fast-casual restaurant known for its grilled, made-to-order sub sandwiches, hand-squeezed lemonade and fresh-cut fries, has been named a 2018 Training Top 125 company by Training magazine.

This is the second year in a row that Penn Station has made the list. The company moved up from No. 90 in 2017 to No. 78 this year.

“It’s an honor to once again be recognized on the Training Top 125 list among companies like Best Buy, CVS Health, Mastercard and so many more,” said Lance Vaught, vice president of operations for Penn Station. “We have made training a focus at Penn Station by creating many resources to help our franchisees hire, train and retain the best employees possible, which has been especially important with the incredibly competitive hiring environment our industry is facing.”

Penn Station has launched several new training initiatives in the last few years, including My Penn Path, a training and career path program designed to help employees move from entry-level crew member to crew leader, assistant manager and even general manager. Penn Station has also incorporated training videos, quizzes and modules into its proprietary POS system.

“Training is a critical part of running a successful business, which is why we have developed our proprietary training program to help our franchisees,” said Craig Dunaway, president of Penn Station. “It’s another example of the tools we provide as a franchisor to help franchisees succeed and maximize their return on investment.”

The annual Training Top 125 list ranks companies by excellence in employer-sponsored training and development programs. It is based on total training budget; percentage of payroll; number of training hours per employee program; goals, evaluation, measurement and workplace surveys; hours of training per employee annually; and detailed formal programs. Training magazine also reviews the financial investment in employee development, the scope of development programs and how closely development efforts are linked to business goals and objectives.
