Duck Donuts® Turns Up the Heat on Unique Breakfast Treat

Customers Can Now Add Hot Sauce to Popular OBX Donut Breakfast Sandwich

April 03, 2018 // Franchising.com // MECHANICSBURG, PA - Duck Donuts, known for serving Warm, Delicious and Made-to-Order! ® donuts, understands how passionate people are about hot sauce, which is why the Company has announced today a bold twist to the popular OBX Donut Breakfast Sandwich. Available in participating locations, the new Spicy OBX Sandwich is based on the same recipe as the original customizable donut breakfast sandwich, with the addition of a drizzle of Texas Pete hot sauce.

The OBX Donut Breakfast Sandwich starts with a warm and delicious sliced donut and customized with the customer’s choice of egg, cheese, sausage or bacon, topped with maple drizzle and chopped bacon. Served all day, customers can enjoy the perfect combination of savory, sweet and spicy.

“Duck Donuts is always striving for innovative ways to add additional flavors and new varieties to our menu,” said Russ DiGilio, founder and CEO of Duck Donuts Franchising Company. “Everyone loves bacon and donuts, and now for those who like spice, we’ve kicked it up a notch by adding hot sauce to the flavorful and unique donut breakfast sandwich.”

Duck Donuts specializes in warm, delicious and made-to-order donuts. Customers can choose from a variety of topping combinations, including traditional favorites such as chocolate icing with sprinkles and more adventurous creations such as maple icing with bacon. The family-friendly stores offer a viewing area where children and adults alike can watch their donuts being made. Duck Donuts also sells coffee, tea, donut breakfast sandwiches and more. About Duck Donuts

Duck Donuts was founded in 2006 by Russ DiGilio in Duck, North Carolina. His intention? To solve a family vacation problem: “Our family wanted a place to buy warm, delicious, made-to-order donuts, and when we couldn’t find one, we decided to start our own.”

By 2011, Duck Donuts had expanded to four Outer Banks locations and the donut business was so successful that DiGilio was continuously approached about franchise opportunities by fans who begged for a Duck Donuts in their community. The first franchise opened in Williamsburg, Virginia, in 2013, and there are now 63 open franchise locations and more than 130 additional contracts in 23 states.
