Penn Station East Coast Subs Announces Athlete Of The Year Winners

Franchisees award student athletes $50,000 in scholarships

May 24, 2018 // Franchising.com // MILFORD, OHIO - Penn Station East Coast Subs, the fast-casual restaurant known for its grilled, made-to-order sub sandwiches, hand-squeezed lemonade and fresh-cut fries, has announced the annual winners of its Athlete of the Year program in participating markets. Franchisees in these markets awarded a total of approximately $50,000 in scholarships to the winning student athletes.

“Our franchisees are happy to support local student athletes in their markets,” said Craig Dunaway, president of Penn Station East Coast Subs. “This program is a great way to reward students who excel both in the classroom and in high school athletics.”

Twelve markets participated in the Athlete of the Year program for the 2017-2018 school year: Charleston, West Virginia; Forsyth and Peoria, Illinois; Lansing, Michigan; Nashville, Tennessee; Raleigh, North Carolina; South Bend, Indiana; Springfield, Illinois; Columbus, Ohio; Dayton, Ohio; Cincinnati, Ohio; Louisville, Kentucky; and St. Louis, Missouri.

The franchisees in those markets choose quarterly or monthly winners from submissions. Those winners receive a catered party, Athlete of the Month T-shirt, 100 free sandwich gift certificates to distribute throughout their school and a custom trophy and plaque. One winner is chosen from the monthly or quarterly winners to receive a scholarship at the end of the year.
