Greek-inspired, build-your-own plate franchise signs agreement for first Midwest restaurant
June 12, 2018 // Franchising.com // FORT LAUDERDALE, FL - Gyroville - a Greek-inspired, build-your-own plate franchise out of South Florida - has signed an agreement for the development of its first restaurant in Michigan.
The restaurant will be operated by the Naseer family who, no strangers to small business and retail, has owned convenience stores across the country for over 30 years. While a lease has yet to be signed, the restaurant will likely open in either Canton or Ann Arbor, according to the family.
“Mediterranean cuisine has long been known for being healthy and well balanced, and with America’s movement toward healthy and sustainable food, Mediterranean meals are becoming more popular,” said the Naseers, who were first introduced to Gyroville while vacationing in Florida. “We fell in love with the brand and just knew we had to bring its authentic flavors and modern twist to Mediterranean foods back home to Michigan.”
Rooted in Greek heritage with what founder Lambros Kokkinelis calls a “high-quality, healthy and modern twist,” Gyroville provides an interactive, build-your-own concept that allows guests to follow their choice of protein from the grill or vertical spit and served in a pita, over rice, as a wrap or salad.
There are various protein choices from which to choose, including gyro meat, chicken breast, spicy chicken thighs and homemade falafel. All the meat served is certified Halal. Freshly chopped romaine lettuce, plum tomatoes, cucumbers, red peppers, and onions are among the many condiments which can be added to the food. Next comes the modern twist on traditional Greek restaurant cuisine. Customers can choose a traditional sauce, cucumber tzatziki sauce or become more adventurous with a Jalapeno Spinach, Mediterranean Mustard or Feta version.

The local expansion news comes on the heels of Gyroville’s recent announcement to expand its national footprint with as many as 30 new restaurants over the next five years. In addition to Michigan, targeted growth markets include Georgia, Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee and Texas.
Today, there are nine locations open in the United States and one in Ecuador.
