Home Franchise Concepts Relocates to Dual-level HQ Offices Designed with its Franchisees in Mind

HFC’s 38,094-sq.-ft. Home Office and Franchisee Support Center in Irvine, Calif., will help it manage its next 25 years of growth

New home of Budget Blinds, Tailored Living and Concrete Craft offers expanded training spaces, product displays and installation labs

July 09, 2018 // Franchising.com // IRVINE, Calif. - Home Franchise Concepts (HFC), parent company of Budget Blinds®, Tailored Living® and Concrete Craft®, has relocated to a state-of-the-art headquarters office and franchisee training facility in Irvine, Calif., designed to accommodate continued double-digit franchisee and sales growth over the next decade.

North America’s largest family of direct-to-consumer brands in the home improvement space, HFC continues with record expansion that has it reaching $700 million in sales this year, up from $600 million in 2017 and representing a 71 percent-increase in systemwide sales since 2015. The three brands are supported by more than 1,400 franchise territories operating in 10,000 cities in the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

The 38,094-square-foot HFC Home Office and Franchise Support Center in Irvine, Calif., more than doubles the space devoted to interactive product displays and state-of-the-art training, education and support facilities for the company’s growing base of franchisees and employees. HFC employees completed the move in May 2018.

“We designed our new offices as a physical manifestation of our motto - ‘There’s no place like Home Franchise Concepts™’ - and our five values of trust, transparency, collaboration, commitment and caring,” said HFC CEO Shirin Behzadi. “The two-level space allows us to better tell - and show - the Budget Blinds, Tailored Living and Concrete Craft stories to new generations of would-be entrepreneurs wanting to control their own futures through business ownership.”

“Just as important, our new space can grow with us to allow us to showcase the new brands that we will be adding to the HFC family through brand development and acquisition to maximize our home improvement offerings to potential franchisees and customers.”

Occupying the entire first floor and half of the seventh floor of the 19000 MacArthur Building across from John Wayne-Orange County Airport, HFC’s offices are 12 miles from its previous location in Orange, Calif., in central Orange County. As the anchor tenant, Home Franchise Concepts signage will be prominently displayed at the top of the nine-story building.

“At the end of the day, the ‘wow’ factor and signage rights at the top of the building will give HFC a higher profile, especially in our own backyard.”

Building Features that Support Franchisees

According to Behzadi, every facet of the new, open-format offices were designed to allow HFC franchising experts to showcase existing and future HFC brands to potential franchisees and set them up for success through “HFC Discovery Days” and product and business-development classes, seminars and training.

“Since HFC offers some of the most advanced training in the industry, we knew we wanted a world-class training center that could serve large- and small-group sessions and allow us to train franchisees from multiple brands simultaneously,” she said. “The result is a bright and comfortable learning environment with twice the training space as our previous offices that can accommodate many franchisees or franchisee prospects at the same time.”

One highlight is a state-of-the-art training lab and installation studio that replicates a real-life home setting in which franchisees can install the latest Budget Blinds, Tailored Living and Concrete Craft products. The space features state-of-the-art audio-video capabilities that allow for live- and pre-recorded streaming of product installations of all three brands.

“Beyond serving as working offices for senior management and staff, our new space doubles as a giant product display and showcase of HFC advances in eco-friendly design, home security and smart home and office automation,” said Behzadi. “The latest product advances from each brand - from integrated Budget Blinds design solutions and Tailored Living home and garage built-ins to the latest Concrete Craft floors - have been seamlessly incorporated into the new space.”

The opening of the HFC Home Office and Franchisee Support Center caps a record 2017 during which HFC reached 2.6 million Budget Blinds window-covering installations for the year (and 25 million installations since Budget Blinds’ founding year of 1992) at a record pace of 50,000 per week. Through 2017, Tailored Living organized more than 245,000 lives and Concrete Craft installed more than 3 million square feet of decorative concrete.

Home Franchise Concepts’ brands continue to climb the prestigious Entrepreneur Magazine’s “Franchise 500,” with Budget Blinds listed at #23 in the 2018 ranking. Military Times ranked Budget Blinds #2 and Tailored Living #3 for Best Franchises 2018.

Bruce Schuman at Savills Studley negotiated the lease for Home Franchise Concepts. Jason Ward and Greg Brown from Cushman and Wakefield represented the ownership for 19000 MacArthur Blvd. on the transaction. Other terms of the lease were not disclosed.
