Liberty Tax Free Tax Reform Calculator Helps Taxpayers See Their Tax Future

Taxpayers can visit participating offices today for a look at how tax reform could affect their bottom line

(NASDAQ:TAX) - Taxpayers want to know what tax reform means to them, and Liberty Tax, a leading tax preparation franchise, has the crystal ball. Liberty Tax’s new tax reform calculator lets taxpayers peer into their tax future. The calculator incorporates changes under the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) to give taxpayers an idea of how the new law may affect their tax bill or their tax refund.

“We have what taxpayers need,” said Liberty Tax CEO Nicole Ossenfort. “The tax reform calculator is the perfect tool to provide a first-time assessment of a taxpayer’s situation under the new law. The calculator’s results will help taxpayers know what to expect when they visit us to file their tax return next year. Because the year still is young, taxpayers can make any necessary changes today, if they have concerns about how tax reform will affect their tax refund.”

Although tax reform has been a major topic this year, taxpayers still are confused about the new law - the biggest change to the tax code in more than 30 years. In a recent Liberty Tax survey* of more than 1,000 people, only about 16 percent could identify that the personal exemption has been suspended under TCJA. That change will affect taxpayers with qualified dependents.

Liberty Tax knows how complicated tax reform can be for taxpayers. To help taxpayers navigate the changes, participating Liberty Tax offices will provide free tax reform reviews throughout the summer and fall.
