The Lost Cajun Bringing Authentic Cajun Flavor to Keller, Texas

August 10, 2018 // Franchising.com // COVINGTON, La. - Merely five months after opening its first Dallas - area location in Mansfield, The Lost Cajun - a family-friendly restaurant focused on authentic Cajun food and hospitality - is expanding its local footprint even further. The Louisiana-based franchise is set to open its second Dallas-Metroplex location in Keller this Fall.

The new restaurant - located at 721 Keller Parkway - will be owned and operated by Jason “Jay” and Janice Smith, who discovered the brand while visiting family in Midland, Texas. After experiencing the amazing Cajun cuisine and learning about the franchise opportunity, the couple knew they had to introduce The Lost Cajun’s one-of-a-kind hospitality to the Keller community.

The Lost Cajun expects to develop 5-6 restaurants throughout the Northern Fort Worth suburbs over the next few years.

“We are thrilled to bring The Lost Cajun’s culture to Keller,” said Jay. “We will offer an exceptional dining experience that is not just another sandwich shop, pizza parlor or burger joint. The brand’s authentic Cajun food, southern hospitality and remarkable atmosphere has already resulted in so much recognition throughout Texas. We’re confident that the local community will welcome our concept with open arms.”

Originally from South Louisiana, The Smiths moved to the Dallas/Fort Worth area shortly after Hurricane Katrina. Jay has spent over 15 years as a safety engineer while Janice currently works in the engraving and promotional products industry. Jay and Janice have four children, Jason, Jenny, Julie, and Jonathan. The Smiths prioritize four things above all else: faith, family, friends, and, of course, food. They believe food makes everything better.

“We believe that The Lost Cajun’s culture and atmosphere, friendly staff, and of course great consistent food will make us a popular destination in Keller,” said Janice. “It’s exactly the kind of hospitality we wanted to bring to our community.”

The Lost Cajun’s menu offers diners a sampling of traditional Cajun fare, including a variety of gumbos - seafood, chicken and sausage, and vegetarian. Red beans and rice, fried seafood, crawfish etouffee and lobster bisque also top the menu, as does another Cajun staple, jambalaya. And what Cajun restaurant would be complete without beignets for dessert?

The Lost Cajun further distinguishes itself with a fantastic down-home atmosphere - a true hole-in-the-wall with wooden tables, unique decorations and an expertly crafted playlist of Zydeco music. The open kitchen concept harks back to the wooden counters in Louisiana’s gumbo houses; patrons can watch their food being cooked and hear the courtesy and respect commonly associated with Cajun culture.

“As we continue to expand our presence throughout Texas, it’s critical to find the right franchise partners who are ready to promote our Cajun culture,” said Raymond Griffin, Founder and CEO of The Lost Cajun. “This is why we couldn’t be more excited about welcoming Jay and Janice to The Lost Cajun team. We are incredibly pleased with the following and recognition we’ve garnered so far from our loyal customers and can’t wait to continue that growth in the greater Dallas-area.”
