theCoderSchool to Open first Las Vegas Location

Silicon Valley-based children’s coding franchise comes to Nevada.

October 03, 2018 // Franchising.com // Palo Alto, CA - theCoderSchool - recently identified as one of Entrepreneur magazine’s hottest brands - is set to expand into Nevada. The school - which aims to show the next generation of kids how inspiring and exciting technology can be - is set to open its first Las Vegas location October 20th.

The new school - located at 9330 W. Sahara Avenue - will be owned and operated by Danielle and Noel Mateo. The couple has a background in computer science and business, so much so that Danielle was recently awarded the 2018 National Center for Women in Technology Aspirations in Computing Educator Award. Recently, the two saw a need for a coding concept in the Las Vegas Area, and are excited to fill that void in their community.

“We are thrilled to introduce theCoderSchool to Las Vegas,” said Danielle. “Learning how to code is extremely empowering and has the ability to take children to new heights mentally and creatively. Not only is coding a career path, but it opens doors by teaching kids to discover, reason, and create. Through theCoderSchool’s 2-on-1 approach to teaching and project-based, customized curriculum, we look forward to getting kids coding at an early age.”

Danielle works as a teacher for the Clark County school district, where she teaches Computer Science and Web Design to high school students. She has earned two Master’s degrees in both Business and Educational Leadership, and understands the importance of young students learning programming and coding skills early on.

Noel, who earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business, works as a consultant for the Hospitality industry and will serve as the school’s General Manager. The couple, who are both from Hawaii, re-located to Las Vegas in 2002 for their prospective careers. They have been in the area since, and are now excited to give back to the community through theCoderSchool.

Founded by Hansel Lynn and incubated with the help of his best friend, Wayne Teng, theCoderSchool was built with the desire to provide children aged 7 to 18 years with a welcoming environment to develop computer programming skills. theCoderSchool uses a variety of platforms to teach various coding languages, such as HTML, CSS, Python, Javascript and more. Every Code Coaching lesson is customized with the help of trained Code Coaches® who use a 2-on-1 approach to teaching.

“As we continue to expand our presence throughout the country, it’s critical to find the right franchise partners who are truly passionate about setting kids up with a positive, life-long relationship with technology and coding,” added Lynn. “This is why we couldn’t be more excited about welcoming Danielle and Noel to theCoderSchool team. Danielle and Noel care deeply about this mission, and we are confident they will bring our level of commitment to kids and parents in Las Vegas and show the community just how fun learning to code can be.”

theCoderSchool is also a proud founding member of the International Alliance of Youth Coding Educators. The IAYCE is an alliance of global partners whose goal is to further coding education for youth around the world.
