With 124 Of Its Offices Walking And Raising Money, Comfort Keepers® Recognized As National Team For Walk To End Alzheimer’s®

October 24, 2018 // Franchising.com // IRVINE, California - For the fifth consecutive year, Comfort Keepers®, one of the nation’s leaders in providing home care for older adults and others, is combining efforts from its offices across the U.S. to support the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s®.

The nation’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s Association care, support, and research programs, the Walk to End Alzheimer’s is an annual national effort that takes place in all 50 states and Washington, D.C. throughout the year. This year Comfort Keepers’ participants from across the country are participating, forming 124 local teams and fundraising $75,000 through pledges of support for Alzheimer’s research.

“Our franchisees across the U.S. work with clients suffering from Alzheimer’s and dementia, and every day we see the toll this devastating disease takes on families,” said Carl McManus, CEO of Comfort Keepers North America. “Because of this, we strongly believe in the importance of this annual event to raise money for Alzheimer’s research, and we are honored to be designated a Walk to End Alzheimer’s National Team for 2018.”

The annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s is more than a single walk. Rather, it’s a coordinated, nationwide effort that takes place over the entire year and calls on participants of all ages to raise awareness of Alzheimer’s and advocate for research advances to eliminate this deadly disease. In addition to the local walks, participants learn about Alzheimer’s disease and how to get involved with this critical cause, from advocacy opportunities and clinical studies to support programs and services.

Alzheimer’s disease is a growing epidemic and the nation’s sixth leading cause of death. In the United States alone, more than 5.7 million people are living with the disease. By 2050, this number is expected more than double, rising dramatically to nearly 14 million.

“On behalf of our entire organization, we are proud to be associated with such an incredible event and the thousands of volunteers whose combined efforts fuel the Association’s care, support, and research initiatives,” McManus said. “By working together, I believe we can all help to find treatments and eventually a cure for this terrible disease.”
