Cookie Cutters Haircuts for Kids Grows to Become Largest & Fastest-Growing Children’s Hair Salon in 2018

Children’s hair salon cuts above the competition

January 07, 2019 // Franchising.com // SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - Nearly doubling its presence for the second year in a row, Cookie Cutters Haircuts for Kids has overtaken the competition and claimed the title of the largest and fastest-growing children’s hair salon in the competitive space.

The Salt Lake City-based franchise - known for its in-store playgrounds, fantasy chairs, TVs and video games that put both kids and parents at ease - opened 38 salons in 2018, bringing the total unit count to 94 locations open and operating in 22 states and Canada. With 146 additional franchise development deals, Cookie Cutters currently has 20 salons in various stages of development.

“The past two years have been record-breaking years for Cookie Cutters and we are incredibly proud of all we have accomplished together,” said Neal Courtney, CEO of Cookie Cutters. “Our franchise system is full of hard working and dedicated individuals - we would not be who we are without them. We look forward to continuing to support existing franchisees and welcoming new partners to Cookie Cutters as we bringing our salons to more markets and families in 2019.”

In addition to the booming unit growth, Cookie Cutters saw prestigious award recognition in 2018, with rankings in the Top 500 of the Inc. Magazine’s 5000 list and placing on Entrepreneur Magazine’s Franchise 500 list for the first-time.

Continuing its success, Cookie Cutters looks to add 30 new salons in 2019, hitting the 100th salon milestone in the first quarter. According to Courtney, the brand is on track to open 200 stores by 2021.

“Much of our success is due to the fact that Cookie Cutters is in a recession-resistant and niche market,” added Courtney. “We have capitalized on the niche children’s market and provided an elevated experience to fulfill a basic need of providing all children a quality haircut in an engaging environment. More so than providing a strong return on investment with a low entry cost, franchise partners can find a fulfilling career that truly makes a difference in their community.”

Including a franchise fee of $40,000, the total investment to open a single unit Cookie Cutters salon is $90,500 to $261,000. Franchisees can add a second location for an additional $20,000 or three or more locations for an additional $10,000 each.
