Carolyn Doerr Recognized with National Pioneer Spirit Award

The owner of Caring Transitions of Mechanicsburg, with the help of her team, was able to grow the business by 10 percent despite six months of chemotherapy for a rare cancer.

MECHANICSBURG, PA. (PRWEB) March 12, 2019 - When Carolyn Doerr and the team at Caring Transitions of Mechanicsburg started 2018, they set their sights on big goals and started strong. But in February of last year, Carolyn was diagnosed with a rare cancer and, in June, had a recurrence and had to undergo chemotherapy for six months. Rather than throw in the towel, Doerr leaned on her team and kept her head up. Although they didn’t meet their original growth goals for the year, Doerr and her team managed to move forward in their growth process.

In honor of her perseverance and focus on excellence, even while facing challenges, Caring Transitions presented Doerr with the company’s Bruce Treadway Pioneer Spirit Award at the company’s national conference on February 19, 2019. The award is named after Bruce Treadway, the very first Caring Transitions franchisee, whose drive and perseverance to develop his franchise in completely uncharted territory helped build Caring Transitions from day one. In the years since he launched, Treadway has become a system-wide inspiration.

“Carolyn has always been focused on building her team and putting great people into leadership roles so that she could continue to grow her business. And, when life threw her a curve ball with a cancer diagnosis a year ago, that foundation she built allowed her business to barely miss a beat while she undertook a huge personal battle. Her strength, faith and spirit through the last year has been an inspiration,” Caring Transitions President Ray Fabik said. “Carolyn possesses that same pioneer spirit that has given her the drive and perseverance to succeed in her Caring Transitions business. Her persistence every single day allowed her to create something much more than just a business – she has been able to give back to her community and her employees in a way that makes all of us proud of our brand.”

Doerr opened Caring Transitions of Mechanicsburg in 2015 and, in 2017, her franchise was in the Top 25 in the country and she was recognized with the company’s Shooting Star Award for her quick growth and dedication to her community. Although she may not have hit the goals she set in early 2018, Doerr and her team were still able to grow the business by 10 percent and finish as a Top 20 Franchise.

“I am truly blessed to have received this award. The love and support I felt when accepting the award at our conference warmed my heart; what a true honor to be thought of so highly by my friends and colleagues,” Doerr said. “Last year was the hardest year of my life so far. Fortunately, after almost four years in business, my staff was well prepared to take on additional responsibilities and keep things running smoothly during my darkest hours. This year I am looking to make up for lost time by growing my business while continuing to nurture my staff and hire new employees to facilitate our growth.”

Caring Transitions’ specially-trained team can handle organizing, packing, de-cluttering, moving, resettling, in-person and online estate sales, liquidations, and preparing homes for market. Caring Transitions specializes in managing senior relocations, but the services are also perfect for busy families and individuals in need of assistance. Caring Transitions of Mechanicsburg serves the Pennsylvania counties of Cumberland, Perry, Dauphin, York and Adams as well as the surrounding communities.

“As the population ages, Caring Transitions becomes more and more important, especially when seniors downsize, relocate into senior living communities or move in with family. As they face these life-changing transitions, they need people who understand what they are going through and who are willing to take as much, or as little, time as needed to help them through this process. I am proud to say that my staff truly is the ‘caring’ in Caring Transitions and that’s a big part of what sets us apart. Our goal is to take all the stress out of these emotional situations so that our clients can more confidently take this next step in their lives,” Doerr said.

Doerr is a Certified Relocation and Transition Specialist, a designation bestowed by an independent organization that evaluates providers of senior relocation services.
