K-12 funding program awards over $52,000 to 18 schools across Southeast

March 29, 2019 // Franchising.com // ATLANTA - The Krystal Foundation has selected 18 schools to receive $52,432 in enrichment funding. These schools were chosen from 111 applications received during the Foundation’s fourth grant window for the 2018-2019 academic year. Grant winners will use their awards for programming in science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics (STEAM) as well as music, sports and culinary arts.

“We are excited to support students and schools in the communities we serve,” said Paul Macaluso, The Krystal Foundation president and Krystal’s president and CEO. “We realize the importance of education from a young age and appreciate hard-working instructors teaching students meaningful life skills and knowledge that will impact their lives.”

Grant award winners include Evansdale Elementary in Atlanta where students will take a field trip to the Tellus Science Museum to learn about electricity. In Tennessee, students at Chattanooga’s DuPont Elementary will integrate math and science in a cooking lab and Knoxville’s Hardin Valley Middle School Media Team is slated to use its funds to purchase a camera and computer for broadcast, newspaper and graphic editing.
