Zaxby's Spreads Wings In Mechanicsville

First Mechanicsville location opening with additional restaurant scheduled

April 19, 2019 // Franchising.com // ATHENS, Ga. - The first Zaxby’s in Mechanicsville, Virginia is coming in April to 6535 Mechanicsville Turnpike. A fan favorite for chicken fingers, wings and salads, the new fast-casual restaurant is the first Zaxby’s in Hanover County and the sixth in the Richmond area out of more than 900 locations across 17 states.

“I was first introduced to Zaxby’s while in college at Georgia Southern before transferring and finishing at Radford University, and knew from the start I wanted to open one of my own one day,” said Jon Garner, co-owner and operator of the Mechanicsville Zaxby’s, along with his parents Debbie and Ian. “I am looking forward to sharing my love of Zaxby’s with Hanover County, and believe this community will really embrace this brand’s quality food, excellent service and family-friendly atmosphere. I’ll be running day-to-day operations at the restaurant so make sure you stop by and say, ‘hello’.”

Garner grew up in the far west end of Henrico County but moved to Hanover specifically so he could be part of the community that his restaurant is serving.

With seating for 55, the 3,000-square-foot farmhouse-style location reflects Zaxby’s commitment to providing an exceptional fast-casual dining experience including a redesigned exterior, kitchen and dining area featuring a proprietary Coca-Cola Freestyle machine. This restaurant design is the first of its kind in the greater Richmond area with a rustic interior featuring floor-to-ceiling brick walls, modernized tables and booths and LED lighting. Online ordering is available through zaxbys.com as well as the Zaxby’s app.

An alternative to fast food, Zaxby’s serves fresh, prepared-at-order, hand-breaded Chicken Fingerz and Wings made in a variety of nine sauces. The menu also features four Zalads and eight sandwiches along with innovative Zappetizers including Tater Chips and Spicy Fried Mushrooms, and Party Platterz for large groups.

“For this location, we are assembling a great team of 50 service-minded people from the Mechanicsville community,” Garner said, who is planning for an additional Zaxby’s location in Hanover County. “We are looking for people who are excited to be a part of a brand that is committed to providing quality service and exceptional food.”
