Performance Running of West Tennessee To Partner with Fleet Feet

2017 Veterans’ Small Business of the Year winner becomes a Fleet Feet location May 1

May 01, 2019 // Franchising.com // CARRBORO, N.C. - Fleet Feet, the retail leader in inspiring and empowering the runner in everyone, announces today that running store Performance Running of West Tennessee in Jackson, Tenn., will partner with Fleet Feet to become a franchise location effective immediately.

Co-owner Danny Crossett will remain owner of the store, which he opened with co-owner Harris Magruder in 2015.

“Danny has a career built on service, from his time in the Air Force to his decades-long career with the U.S. Postal Service, to now owning a running store,” says Robyn Goby, vice president of development for Fleet Feet. “That innate passion for helping others is a quality we see in all our successful Fleet Feet owners. We’re proud to have Danny join Fleet Feet, and look forward to supporting his efforts in the Jackson running community.”

A native of Tennessee, Crossett grew up on a farm just north of Jackson. After graduating high school, he joined the Air Force, and after four years of working on nuclear missiles in Wyoming, returned home to begin a three-decade-long career in the Postal Service, becoming a father to three and grandfather to five, along the way. After retired in 2011, he became a personal trainer, eventually crossing paths with Phil Horner, the owner of the Fleet Feet in Kingsport, Tenn.

“After talking with Phil and seeing first-hand what Fleet Feet does in terms of building strong running communities, I knew I wanted to open my own running store,” says Crossett. “I opened Performance Running with Harris in 2015, and while we’ve enjoyed strong growth since then, I am excited to partner with Fleet Feet and elevate our in-store experience, services, and programs with the support and resources of a strong national brand.”

Located at 398 Oil Well Road in Jackson, Performance Running features 2,900 square-feet of retail floor space, and employs six employees. The store will soon offer Fleet Feet’s exclusive personalized outfitting experience, fit id™, which includes 3D foot scanning, and will have Fleet Feet’s in-house running shoe brand, Karhu, available for purchase. The store becomes the twelfth Fleet Feet location in Tennessee.

Performance Running will also offer customers the opportunity to connect with and shop Fleet Feet through both fleetfeet.com and the brand’s first-ever app, which incentivizes and rewards customers both on purchases and store engagement through its Fleet Feet Rewards Program. The app is available for download on both iPhone and Android phones.

Crossett says the store will celebrate the partnership with a ribbon-cutting ceremony with the Jackson Chamber on May 3 at 2 p.m.
