Ten-Hut: G.I.HAUL® is Looking for a Few Good Men (and Women)

Pittsburgh-based junk and waste removal company launches franchise opportunity exclusively for veterans

June 25, 2019 // Franchising.com // PITTSBURGH - G.I.HAUL®, a full-service residential and commercial junk and waste removal company, is looking to make military veterans their newest recruits. The Pittsburgh-based franchise recently became the latest franchise concept in the country that exclusively awards franchises to those who have served and protected our country.

Founded by brothers and post 9/11 veterans David and Mike McCloskey, G.I.HAUL has been servicing Pittsburgh and Southwestern Pennsylvania since 2013. Looking ahead, they hope to have as many as three new locations operating within the next 12 months and five total by 2020, and are specifically targeting other parts of Pennsylvania, as well as Georgia, Kentucky, Ohio, North Carolina and South Carolina for expansion.

“Franchise businesses are a viable path toward small business ownership for thousands of our veterans,” said David, noting that approximately 14 percent of the more than 700,000 franchise establishments across the country are veteran-owned. “The same qualities that help service members thrive in the military make them great candidates for owning their own businesses. We look forward to welcoming them into our ranks and bringing our exclusive veteran-only franchise to various markets across the country.”

David, who served as a Corporal in the U.S. Marines and, Mike, a former Sergeant in the U.S. Army, first got involved in the junk and waste removal business when they launched Major Deeds Hauling in 2007. Shortly after, however, both were activated and deployed to Iraq and the business venture was put on hold. In 2012, they reopened the business as G.I.HAUL.

Today, G.I.HAUL has become a household name and has been recognized as one of the best junk removal companies in Pittsburgh. Whether it’s residential or commercial, G.I.HAUL makes the junk removal process easy and affordable, and will pick up just about any junk there is - from household appliances and electronics to furniture and yard debris, and much more. Customers also have the satisfaction of knowing that any items that can be recycled will be.

“We have responded to downtown high-rises needing immediate garbage removal, restaurants with overflowing dumpsters, homes full of junk, littered alleyways, and people just trying to figure out a way to properly dispose of items they no longer wanted or had use for,” said David. “We like to consider ourselves the emergency response team of trash removal, so you just tell us what needs gone and consider it mission complete!”

“We’ve taken a lot of lumps over the years to create one of the most well-known, successful junk removal companies in Pittsburgh. Now, we want to pass that success onto other veterans who have a passion and drive to succeed just like us,” added Mike.

Including a franchise fee as low as $4,000 ($1,000 per 25,000 people in a designated territory with a minimum of 100,000 population), the total investment to own and operate a G.I. HAUL franchise can be as low as $55,000. Financing options are available.
