The Glass Guru Comes to Bowie, MD
November 14, 2019 // Franchising.com // Roseville, CA - The Glass Guru is pleased to announce the opening of the organization’s newest franchise location in Bowie, MD, a suburban city sitting between Baltimore and Washington DC. The franchise location is owned by sibling franchisees, Roberto and Julio Medrano. Hailing from Honduras, the brothers had been seeking business opportunities in the US for some time, and they deliberately sought out business opportunities in home services because of their experience with their family’s construction business that also operates in the Washington DC area.
The brothers are each experienced businessman, with the entrepreneurial spirit to do great things in the home services category. Julio Medrano comes to The Glass Guru with years of experience in supply chain management and logistics, and holds a Bachelor Degree(s) in Industrial Engineering. Roberto Medrano has years of experience in Executive Management and Sales, and holds a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration. They are a perfect example of what The Glass Guru has found as a great formula for successful franchise locations… bringing business people in, and teaching them the trade.
When Julio and Roberto were looking for business opportunities, they knew they wanted to be in the DC area, and they also knew they wanted to do something related to home services or construction. With their family’s construction business flourishing in the Washington DC area, the brothers knew that there would be mutually-beneficial opportunities in that region, including cross-promotion and networking.
- “What excites us the most about opening our own Glass Guru franchise is that it’s a business with a huge opportunity to grow, offering high-quality professional glass services. What led us to choosing The Glass Guru was the opportunity to own a well known brand, and open up the opportunities in a high-demand business like the glass business.”

On October 4th, 2019, franchisee Juilio Medrano completed the Initial Franchise Training at The Glass Guru’s North American headquarters in Roseville, CA. Since then they have been busy! The brothers are working diligently, now that their franchise is open, to enthusiastically offer The Glass Guru’s diverse array of residential and light-commercial glass services to their customers. While they just got started, they both have a grand vision for the future. When asked where they see the business in 2 years, they are firm in their belief that they will continue to expand.
- “We see growing to the next level, having 8 crews working for us, and possibly acquiring more (franchise) territories at that time.” continues Roberto Medrano.
With the Initial Franchise Training experience recently behind him, Julio Medrano had a chance to reflect on his experience during the training at The Glass Guru.
- “Everything was well planned, and the on-site training was the best part… going with the trainers into customer’s homes and doing real estimates and repairs.”

The Medrano brothers are just another example of The Glass Guru’s “new breed” of franchise owners. They bring years of business and professional services experience to bear in a home services category where those skills are sorely needed, but often missing. Roberto and Julio both quickly realized the economic flexibility they would have working in high-demand business like residential glass, and understood The Glass Guru’s economic resilience, even in less-than-favorable market conditions. Just weeks after opening their business, they are already busy doing work. The sky's the limit for these ultimate success stories from Honduras.
