Buff City Soap Cleaning up Southaven

Booming lifestyle brand to open third location in Mississippi

November 19, 2019 // Franchising.com // Memphis, Tenn. - Mississippi is getting squeaky clean. Buff City Soap - the Southern-based lifestyle brand changing the way people buy their everyday soap by providing plant-based alternatives - is opening in Southaven on November 23. The grand opening is at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 23 at 125 Goodman Road West, Suite E. The first ten customers will win free soap for a year, while all attending the grand opening will have a chance to win a mini-spa kit.

The Southaven Buff City Soap houses a retail store and manufacturing Makery where employees handcraft soaps in front of customers and customers can have products customized with their favorite scents. This is the third location in the Mississippi market, joining stores in Olive Branch and Ocean Springs.

Owners Krista Pennie Myers and Bill Scott leapt at the chance to become brand partners.

Krista heard about Buff City Soap and its plant-based products and decided to check it out for herself. After immediately falling in love with the soap’s quality and scent, she bought a few soaps for Bill, who also noticed the difference between his regular soap and the Buff City Soap products.

“We are excited to bring Buff City Soap to the Southaven market,” Myers said. “After using the soap and learning more about the brand, we knew it was something we wanted to get involved with. We know firsthand how great Buff City products are and we can’t wait to share our products with the Southaven community.”

Buff City Soap was founded in 2013 when Brad Kellum, a former firefighter paramedic discovered that his every day store-bought soap was packed with cow fat and other synthetic materials. He, along with his fiancé and cofounder Jennifer Ziemianin, a registered nurse, began experimenting with a plant-based alternative in their garage.

Now, the brand offers traditional soap bars, along with a men’s care product line, plant-based laundry soap, skin-care products and other accessories. Each shop includes a Makery, where customers can select their ingredients and watch employees handcraft their soap. Furthering its customization promise, the shops host birthday parties, bachelorette nights and other events, and launched a subscription box service.

“Buff City is experiencing rapid growth thanks to franchisees like Krista and Bill,” said CEO Justin Delaney. “They are knowledgeable brand partners who believe in our mission and our plant-based products and I have no doubt that the Southaven community will fall in love with Buff City Soap.”

Buff City Soap has 29 locations open in nine states, including Tennessee, Texas, Arkansas, Kentucky, Colorado, Alabama, Mississippi and Florida. There are currently over 40 additional stores in various stages of development.
