Tierra Encantada Inks First Illinois Franchisee

Spanish language immersion daycare signs franchise agreement for four Chicago area centers

January 17, 2020 // Franchising.com // Minneapolis, Minn. - One of the nation’s fastest-growing language immersion daycare centers recently signed its first Illinois development deal. Tierra Encantada, the leader in Spanish immersion early education, is bringing its innovative bilingual education program to Chicago.

The agreement for four centers has been signed by local resident Karin Morgan. Morgan hopes to have the first center open by December of this year and is currently eyeing locations throughout the Chicago metropolitan area.

Morgan’s desire to become involved with Tierra Encantada stems from her vast experience in school administration and school social work. During her time as a school social worker, she developed a passion for learning Spanish so she could communicate better with her students. Her interest in Spanish immersion education, coupled with her desire to spend more time with her two young children at home made the idea of owning a preschool and daycare focused on immersive learning an incredibly attractive opportunity.

“I’ve always had a passion for education, but my role as a school social worker helped me realize the importance of an immersive learning experience,” Morgan stated. “After learning more about Tierra Encantada, their immersive language curriculum and their dedication to creating a wholesome learning environment for young children, I knew it was something that I wanted to be involved with. The brand is truly like nothing else in the language immersion education industry.”

Founded in 2013 and franchising since 2019, Tierra Encantada offers quality childcare for children ranging from six weeks to six years of age. Students are immersed in a natural, dual-language learning environment with teaching, songs, games, and conversation all occurring in Spanish.

“As an educator, I know the benefits of being bilingual firsthand,” Morgan said. “It truly is an invaluable skill, one that I hope to share with as many young learners as possible. With Tierra Encantada’s immersion program, infants and toddlers are continuously exposed to the Spanish language in fun, exciting ways, which helps with retention and comprehension. Language immersion opens up whole new opportunities for children later in life, and I am eager to play a part in helping educate future generations.”

In addition to immersing students in a dual-language learning environment, Tierra Encantada strives to be environmentally friendly by offering cloth diapering for children and providing wholesome, organic foods cooked fresh daily in on-site commercial kitchens. The use of LED lights and solar panels also puts an emphasis on environmental care.

“Karin’s passion for education coupled with her prior knowledge of social work and school administration makes her the perfect fit with Tierra Encantada,” said Tierra Encantada founder and CEO Kristen Denzer. “We are excited to add Karin to the Tierra Encantada family and are eager to see the impact she will have on educating the children of the Chicagoland area.”

The Chicago expansion plans come less than six months after Tierra Encantada launched its franchise opportunity and announced plans to expand its national footprint. Today, there are four centers open and operating in Minnesota, and company plans call for having additional centers under development in all 50 states within five years.
