Cousins Subs CEO Christine Specht Receives Wisconsin Restaurant Association’s Championship of Restaurant Entrepreneurship (CORE) Award

Specht recognized for her strong leadership skills, business acumen and success driving innovation to move the brand forward

March 12, 2020 // Franchising.com // MILWAUKEE - Cousins Subs® announced today its CEO Christine Specht is the recipient of a Wisconsin Restaurant Association CORE Award, which recognizes restaurant owners and operators who have demonstrated a passion for and success in business, committed community involvement and support of the Wisconsin Restaurant Association.

“I am honored to be recognized with the CORE Award for my longstanding dedication to the success of Wisconsin’s foodservice industry,” said Christine Specht, CEO of Cousins Subs. “Having grown up in Wisconsin, I am proud to be Local at Heart and advance the careers of the hundreds of hardworking employees at Cousins Submarines, Inc. while supporting Wisconsin businesses by incorporating more and more locally sourced ingredients into our menu.”

Christine Specht has defined strategies and led a series of system enhancements to transform Cousins Subs from a successful yet aging business to a modern, relevant brand. Under her leadership 45 percent of the system’s stores have been modernized in look and feel, and the remodeled stores are outperforming non-remodeled stores by 10.2 percent.

The brand established its Make It Better Foundation in 2013 to provide vital community support in three areas of interest – hunger, youth education and health & wellness. Under Specht’s leadership as the foundation’s president, it has surpassed $500,000 in nonprofit funding to support the lifechanging missions of nearly 80 Wisconsin-based nonprofit organizations.

Specht serves as the chair of MRA – The Management Association, in which she leads the Board of Directors in providing counsel around key strategies, goals and annual operating budgets. She is also the chair of the Concordia University Wisconsin Ann Arbor Foundation Board of Directors.

Specht was recognized at the Wisconsin Restaurant Association Awards Gala on Tuesday, March 10. She was nominated for this award by a peer and voted for by the general public. This is her first time receiving this award. To learn more about Cousins Subs, visit www.cousinssubs.com.
