Pizza Factory Reveals Express Model as Delivery & Carryout Sales Soar

Community-Rooted, Future-Focused Pizza Franchise Launches Contemporary Quick-Service, Buildout Option to Support Multi-Unit Franchise Growth and Consumer Demand

April 21, 2021 // Franchising.com // OAKHURST, Calif. - Order up, multi-unit operators! Pizza Factory just released its renderings for Pizza Factory Express - a new quick-service format to support the brand’s thriving carryout and delivery business.

Guided by a concept direction of “Convenience Perfected,” the prototype caters to modern-day guests’ cravings for fresh, quality food served fast. Whether fans stop in to grab a hot pizza or they order calzones from home, the Express model further strengthens the brand’s ability to provide a multitude of off-premise dining options. This news comes in tandem with more than 80 Pizza Factory delivery-service restaurants touting a 27% same-store-sales increase last month. In fact, March 2021 systemwide represented the brand’s best March performance in five years - ultimately signaling Pizza Factory’s upward trajectory and recession-resistant operations.

Beyond consumer appeal and reinforcing sales growth, the new prototype is also constructed to complement national growth with multi-unit operators, as the model accommodates restaurant development. Starting at 1,000 sq. ft., the Express model’s small footprint allows new and existing franchisees to grow into new, untapped markets while also eliminating many of the operating costs and furniture, fixtures and equipment (FF&E) expenses associated with larger restaurant prototypes. Likewise, the format requires fewer employees to run the show, ultimately saving on labor costs, but allowing a hyper-effective team to serve at-home on on-the-go guests who traditionally have higher ticket averages.

“Efficiency, convenience and quality are foundational to Pizza Factory, and we led with these business drivers in mind when building the Express blueprint,” said Pizza Factory CEO Mary Jane Riva. “The Express debut is such a significant milestone for our development goals, as the format alone allows for Pizza Factory to grow into new communities and untraditional spaces. We’re confident the model will support the advanced delivery and carryout operations we already have in place, while providing new ways for our guests to enjoy a diverse menu of fresh food.”

In partnership with prestigious design agency Rubber and Road Creative, Pizza Factory has conceptualized its Express model to communicate its reputation as a fresh, lively and community-rooted brand. With large, floor to ceiling glass windows, the sleek, new prototype entices guests to come indoors and into an inviting space. Inside the restaurant, warm color palettes, natural wood elements and LED signage adorn the walls to capture the essence of a modern hometown pizzeria. Plus, visibility into the brand’s kitchen provides an added level of transparency, allows guests an inside look at the homemade menu items made fresh daily.

In addition to the brand’s Express model, Pizza Factory also offers multi-unit operators flexible new-build or conversion options with traditional dine-in prototypes ranging from 1,500 - 4,000 sq. ft. The largest option typically features multiple dining sections, an arcade area for the kids, banquet rooms for parties and social gatherings and big-screen TVs throughout the restaurant. Whether through a fast-casual or quick-service format, Pizza Factory maintains its reputation for family-friendly dining and high-quality products, offering fresh, never frozen hand-tossed pizza, pasta, wings, sandwiches, salads, beer, wine and more.

With aggressive development efforts underway, Pizza Factory is actively growing from its West Coast roots and adding restaurants across the nation. Most recently the brand announced its expansion in Texas and its first Southeast franchise deal in Georgia, demonstrating the concept’s ability to enter new states.

As Pizza Factory enters this new era of growth, the company is offering an aggressive development incentive program including a reduced franchise fee, waived royalties for three months and more. This applies to new franchisees exploring conversions or new builds.
