Pizza Hut International Opens 1000th Fast Casual Delivery Location In Mexico

Iconic Pizza Brand Celebrates Milestone Amid Growth Driven by Global Franchise Development

May 12, 2021 // Franchising.com // PLANO, Texas - Today, Pizza Hut International (PHI) announced the opening of their 1,000th Fast Casual DelCo (FCD) location, with their franchise partner Food Delivery Brands (FDB). The new location, which offers local fan favorites such as Stuffed Crust, Pizza Pastor and the Meat Lovers Pizza, is located in one of the most dynamic areas on Guadalajara, Jalisco -- the same city where the first México-based Pizza Hut opened 52 years ago.

PHI first rolled out the FCD model in 2017. After successful global testing, this breakthrough concept is now accelerating with locations across more than 80 countries by tapping into consumer demand for a frictionless experience that delivered on the need for fast, convenient, familiar, and tasty. The FCD model was launched to keep up with changing consumer expectations and provide customers with a modern on-premises experience, making it easy and safe to get the best-tasting pizza whether they are eating in, carrying out or ordering delivery.

“Every new concept, design, and innovation is driven by two core elements: our customer and their love of pizza and our team members and their passion for and ability to deliver on that love,” said Oscar Pelaez, global director concept innovation, Pizza Hut International. “How we bring that to market evolves based on culture, trends and societal norms and needs.”

Clouthier marks the 5th new unit opened in Mexico since the company made a concerted effort to transform the Mexico-based Pizza Hut locations beginning in 2019. Since that time, they have also remodeled six locations already built throughout Mexico, and the company expects to add 30 new restaurants and hundreds of new jobs in the region by the end of 2021 as part of its global growth plans across new and existing markets.

“With FCDs as the fastest growing pizza concept in the world, we tap into customer demand for an experience that is easy, fast, tasty and safe,” said Joseph Call, chief development officer, Pizza Hut International. “A milestone like this is one to be celebrated as we continue to deliver for our customers, team members and partners by bringing our love of pizza to the forefront. Continued expansion in new and existing markets feeds our ability to bring on new team members and build long-term opportunity for the future.”

The new location will operate under the leadership of Regional General Manager William Gonzalez and have 14 employees. Like all FCD models, the new location delivers technology integrations designed to enhance the overall customer experience including a contactless experience at the points of delivery and pick-up.

“It’s a great honor to celebrate the opening of the 1,000 FCB, particularly in a city that holds such a special place in our hearts, as it was in Guadalajara in 1969 where the Mexico Pizza Hut story started after we opened the first location in Plaza del Sol,” said Juan Luis Bueno, Pizza Hut's CEO in Mexico. “As the fastest-growing pizza concept in our business, the FCD model brings our love of pizza to the forefront. It is where everyone feels welcome, with open kitchens, great ambiance, and a modern yet comfortable vibe. I am excited about the energy of our staff and customers, and the tremendous growth opportunity that opening Clouthier unlocks.”
