Kiddie Academy® of Urbandale Coming Soon

November 03, 2021 // Franchising.com // URBANDALE, Iowa - Kiddie Academy® Educational Child Care, a provider of comprehensive educational child care programs, is opening a new location in Urbandale, Iowa. Kiddie Academy of Urbandale marks the first ever Academy in the state of Iowa, a brand-new market for Kiddie Academy. The Academy, owned and operated by Randi and Grant Schmitz, will be located at 14101 Douglas Parkway and is scheduled to open in spring 2022.

"We are excited to have the opportunity to bring Kiddie Academy’s advanced curriculum and philosophies to the children and families of Urbandale," said Randi Schmitz, owner of Kiddie Academy of Urbandale. “Our goal is to feed a child’s curiosity and instinct to learn. My team will be dedicated to delivering the highest quality educational child care possible to positively shape the lives of the children and families of the Urbandale community.”

To celebrate the groundbreaking of the new learning center, Kiddie Academy of Urbandale will be hosting a variety of fall-themed activities during the month of October. In partnership with Grimes Parks and Recreation and the Polk County Sheriff's Office, Kiddie Academy of Urbandale will be at the Fall Festival at the Grimes South Sports Complex on Oct. 16 with activities for all ages. As Halloween closes in, Kiddie Academy of Urbandale will also be participating in a Trunk-or-Treat event on Oct. 28 in partnership with the Urbandale Police Department. Children and families are invited to attend, and costumes are encouraged!

Since its inception in 1981, Kiddie Academy has been grounded in the vision to create a community that shapes and inspires children for the future. Kiddie Academy of Urbandale will bring 28 jobs to the community and will be equipped with 11 classrooms and a Halo sanitizing system. The state-of-the-art 12,500 square-foot location is ready to serve 182 children ages six months to 12 years in the Urbandale area with a curriculum that exceeds state standards.

The need for quality educational child care is ramping up across the nation, and this is especially true of the state of Iowa. Recent Census data shows that the greater Des Moines population is growing up to 10 times faster than state and national averages.

“As we break ground with our first location in Iowa we are excited to serve the need for educational child care in the market,” said Jeff Brazier, Kiddie Academy chief development officer. “That’s why we’re excited about this opportunity and ready to meet the needs of children and families making a home in the Des Moines area.”
