SoBol Opens First Acai Bowl and Smoothie Café in New Jersey

New Owners Greatly Influenced By Family

December 21, 2021 // Franchising.com // Moorestown, New Jersey - The Township of Moorestown is home to the first SoBol in the state of New Jersey. The café is located at 1604 Nixon Dr, in the Eastgate Square food area. SoBol, famous for their fresh-made acai bowls and smoothie bars, is capturing a large following throughout the country as a healthy food franchise.

The opening of the Moorestown SoBol was widely anticipated with hundreds turning out for the grand opening which included free acai bowls and live music. Owners, Maniti and Swatng Patel are confident this will be a success saying, “This area, a suburb of Philadelphia, is a great market for this brand because there are so many young families with children who really enjoy the choice of a healthy food option. People know and appreciate a good quality product and we are glad to offer it.”

Maniti and Swatng were sold on the menu as long-time customers of the brand themselves at locations in New York, which happen to be owned by family members. “Our family owns several SoBol locations in New York and we’ve been enjoying this great food for years,” says Swatng. “That’s why we know this is going to be a hit here in New Jersey.”

The Patels are excited to offer these fresh fruits and vegetables served up in the customizable bowls and smoothies. The menu has something for everyone whether you want a fresh meal, you’re watching your weight, or have dietary restrictions.

The couple has been busy preparing for their opening. They have a very busy life with a 19-month-old at home and another baby on the way who could be celebrated as the New Year’s baby of 2022 if the due date is correct. It’s because of this growing family that they are working hard to secure their financial future. “We are absolutely doing this for our kids. Franchising with SoBol is a great investment in our family’s future,” says Maniti.

Although the couple was already very familiar with SoBol, after going through the SoBol franchise training they understand why this brand is growing so quickly. “The vision of this brand is what sold us. They are customer-centric and the franchise culture welcomes innovation and new ideas,” Swatng says. “They are very supportive and always available to us for questions and guidance. I honestly see how SoBol is not just building a brand, they are building a family, and we’re so glad to be a part of it.”

Maniti and Swatng are both professionals, he is a C.P.A. and she is a registered nurse. They plan on being very hands-on with the day-to-day operations of their SoBol location with future goals of eventually owning five sites within the next three-to-four years.

SoBol founders Jason Mazzarone and Jim Kalomiris are very excited about this first New Jersey location and the prospect of the multi-unit ownership. “Maniti and Swatng are family, and we could not be more pleased to have them grow their ownership dreams with SoBol,” says Mazzarone. “I know they will be successful because they align with what we stand for - not just providing a good meal, but making someone’s day!”
