Community-impact driven couple opens theCoderSchool’s third location in New Jersey

January 10, 2022 // Franchising.com // MONTCLAIR, N.J. - theCoderSchool - whose motto is “Learn to code. Change the world.” - is opening a Montclair location that will engage kids in fun classes while teaching them essential coding skills for future innovation. The new school will be located at 51 Upper Montclair Plaza and is tentatively set to open on January 22 for both in-person and virtual learning.

The new Montclair school is owned and operated by Nicole Xu and Jonathan To of Essex Fells, who were introduced to the program when their son began taking classes at the Short Hills location. They saw how much the coding class developed their child’s coding skills and provided an activity that he looked forward to working on with friends. Nicole and Jonathan fell in love with the brand’s concept and commitment to teaching children how to code while also having fun. Today, they are very excited to bring theCoderSchool to the area.

“We love Montclair and how it is such a charming, diverse and historical town,” stated Nicole. “Our son goes to school in Montclair, and we met many parents who are as passionate about their child’s education as we are. We are excited about bring theCoderSchool to the community and cannot wait to safely open our doors.

Nicole founded New Jersey Piano City in 2011 after years as a marketing professional for multiple tech and financial firms. In addition to managing piano distribution, she also ran a well-renowned music academy where she developed an appreciation for the countless ways children learn. Jonathan has 15 years of experience in database and project management and is currently a data team lead at Haver Analytics. The couple is deeply invested in their community and has a passion for teaching, learning new skills and all things technology.

TheCoderSchool Montclair also looks to partner with their students, parents, and the community at-large to develop a foundation in science and an innovative perspective in education. They plan to work with local schools in ways to enhance STEM projects, offering scholarships to aspiring future coders and rising code coaches.

Founded by Hansel Lynn and incubated with the help of his best friend, Wayne Teng, theCoderSchool was built to provide children aged 7 to 18 years with a welcoming environment to develop computer programming skills. theCoderSchool uses a variety of platforms to teach many coding languages, such as HTML, CSS, Python, JavaScript and more. Every Code Coaching lesson is customized with the help of trained Code Coaches® who use a 2-on-1 approach to teaching.

“We are thrilled to have Jonathan and Nicole join theCoderSchool family,” said Lynn. “I have no doubt they will do a great job bringing coding to the Montclair community because they have such proficient experience teaching and within the tech industry.”
