Little Kitchen Academy Brings New Location to the Greater Portland Area

The Montessori-inspired cooking academy is poised to change lives from scratch, introducing the concept to Oregon

August 23, 2022 // Franchising.com // PORTLAND, Ore. - With the increasing demand for a safe, inspiring, and empowering space for children to identify, develop, and refine their senses,  Little Kitchen Academy (LKA) is expanding its footprint in the U.S. by opening its newest location in the Greater Portland area. The first Little Kitchen Academy in Oregon will be located in the Bridgeport Village Mall at 7443 SW Bridgeport Road, Tigard; and it is slated to open its doors on July 11th. LKA Bridgeport Village will be opened by Hale View Partners, LLC, led by Michael Silver, Seth Johnson, Shivani Seastone, and Whit Carlberg. Together, this team is committed to the children of the Greater Portland area, helping them to learn and unlock their potential through cooking.

“Our ownership team was struck by LKA’s mission and their approach to learning. We’re teaching so much more than cooking, as LKA is foundational to helping kids build confidence and develop their own mind and voice. It’s about life skills,” said Seastone.

While the team at Hale View Partners, LLC brings robust backgrounds across numerous fields, they’ve come together, finding themselves aligned with Little Kitchen Academy and how the concept strives to empower the next generation. Seastone’s background includes designing and producing educational games for children on digital platforms, while Johnson and Carlberg have had long careers in aviation. Silver, a renowned business executive, introduced the group to the concept after being attracted to LKA’s approach to education.

“Partnering with Little Kitchen Academy felt very organic to me for a number of reasons. As someone who has been involved in education in a number of fields, I’m passionate about the concept’s Montessori approach, encouraging their students to embrace a growth mindset,” said Silver. “Additionally, I love the brand’s philanthropic program and its mission to empower students to learn how they can make the world a better place. Having been involved with charitable work since the age of eight, it was important to me to be a part of a concept that was passionate about giving back to the communities it serves.”

Silver serves as both one of the partners in LKA Bridgeport Village and as the LKA Area Representative for Oregon and Washington, supporting the development of multiple locations across both states. A passionate philanthropist, Silver has chosen to donate all Little Kitchen Academy franchise proceeds from his operations to his charity, Silver Linings (silverlinings.org), which will provide scholarships to disadvantaged kids and bring programs to underserved schools and communities. Founded in 1997, Silver Linings is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to the health and welfare of children in communities across Oregon, Washington, and California.

“Michael and the rest of the team at Hale View Partners, LLC are such incredible, purpose-driven people,” said Brian Curin, co-founder/co-CEO and president of Little Kitchen Academy. “The combination of their backgrounds and commitment to providing the next generation with the tools to succeed makes them the perfect team to share the LKA experience in a wonderful, family-oriented community like Bridgeport Village. I know that they will have an important, long-lasting impact on their community as they begin changing lives from scratch.”
