Healthcare Professional and Veteran Educator Make the Leap Into Homecare Ownership

April 28, 2023 // Franchising.com // Gilbert, Ariz. - SYNERGY HomeCare has a new location based in North Tampa Bay, Florida.

The company is owned and operated by husband-and-wife duo, Travis and Jennifer Larimore, who have extensive experience caring for and serving others.

Headquartered at 2625 Stonewood Park Loop, Suite 108 in Land O’Lakes, the company will serve residents of Hillsborough and Pasco Counties, from Westchase to Dade City. SYNERGY HomeCare provides clients with a wide variety of non-medical care options, from companion care to personal care to specialized care for people with chronic health conditions or recovering from illness or surgery.

Travis and Jennifer saw a growing need in their community for these services, particularly among Baby Boomers. U.S. Census statistics show that 10,000 Baby Boomers are turning 65 every day and that by 2030, there will be more than 70 million people over the age of 65. A recent AARP survey found that 75% of those 65+ report they want to remain in their current residence for as long as possible.

Travis has a Master’s in Exercise Physiology and a Master’s of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies, both of which he has put to use across multiple high-level positions in the healthcare industry. He served as an emergency medicine physician assistant with U.S. Acute Care Solutions (USACS) in Tampa, where he received numerous honors for his extraordinary service.

Throughout his tenure in healthcare, Travis found his interactions with older patients to be the most rewarding part of his job. Seeing how vital his care was to these people and just how much he had to offer in terms of improving their quality of life were what originally drew Travis to the homecare industry.

“Our mission is to provide the very best care for our clients and families,” said Travis. “Jennifer and I have always been guided by the idea that compassion, kindness and dignity are paramount, and we are honored to extend that philosophy into our company,” he said.

Like Travis, Jennifer also holds two master’s degrees, one in Education in School Guidance and another in Educational Leadership. She is a life-long resident of the Tampa Bay area and much of her professional career has been centered around assisting students from Pasco County Schools. More recently, Jennifer transitioned into a leadership role as the Director of HR and Recruiting with a national marketing agency.

“I’ve always seen it as a privilege to serve the people in our community with personalized service and compassionate care,” says Jennifer. “Travis and I want to become the premier homecare provider and employer in the region, and we look forward to leveraging our experience and insight to help people live fuller lives in the comfort of their own homes.”

SYNERGY HomeCare focuses on multiple types of in-home care. In addition to providing older people with assistance in maintaining their independence, the Larimores also want to provide backup care and assistance to expecting families.

According to Travis, the majority of their clients lack a local support system and need to rely on caregivers for assistance cooking, shopping, running errands, light housekeeping or going for walks. Some even require personal care such as help bathing, dressing, or using the toilet.

“Distance should not keep adult children from being in tune with their aging loved ones to help them maintain their quality of life while aging in place, something that can be accomplished through local in-home care,” Travis explained. “I feel that it is our duty to provide peace of mind to families and let them know that their loved ones are receiving the proper care, even if they aren’t currently in a hospital or facility.”
