SYNERGY HomeCare Announces Newest Franchise in Tampa Bay, FL

Former Caregiver and Corporate Manager Combine Their Skills to Open Home Care Company

May 01, 2023 // Franchising.com // Gilbert, Ariz. - SYNERGY HomeCare has a new location based in Tampa, Florida.

SYNERGY HomeCare of Tampa is owned and operated by Sarah Bains and Alaina Tackitt. While Sarah brings her background in Accounting to the management of financial operations, Alaina has professional experience as a caregiver and case manager. Both have spent significant time in the Tampa Bay region, which has provided them with key insights into the needs of their community.

Headquartered at 3500 E Fletcher Ave., Suite 220, SYNERGY HomeCare of Tampa serves greater Hillsborough County including North, Central, and South Tampa, as well as the surrounding communities of Lutz, Brandon, Valrico, Bloomingdale, Riverview, Apollo Beach, and Sun City Center, where a second office will be opening later this year.

SYNERGY HomeCare provides clients with companion care, homemaking and meal preparation, transportation, and personal care. Care is available in clients’ homes and in care facilities with visits ranging from a 1-hour check in to 24/7 support.

Sarah and Alaina recognized a growing need in their community for these services, particularly among Baby Boomers. According to U.S. Census statistics, 10,000 Baby Boomers are turning 65 every day. By 2030, there will be more than 70 million people over the age of 65. A recent AARP survey found that 75% of those 65+ report they want to remain in their current homes for as long as possible.

Both Sarah and Alaina understand the impact of care from first-hand experience. “My first job was as a caregiver, and I loved the work,” says Alaina. “I knew my work mattered to the clients, but I couldn’t truly comprehend the importance of respite care for the family. Now that I am coordinating care for my parents, I have a far better understanding of the value a care provider can bring not only to my parents, and also to me as a family caregiver who wants to be able to focus on being a daughter.”

Sarah, who also served as a caregiver for her father, emphasizes the need for care providers in our area. “Tampa Bay has always been popular with retirees and military families,” says Sarah. “We’re fortunate to have a number of world-renowned medical facilities in Tampa, but we also recognize that the caregiving process doesn’t end when people leave the hospital. We want to step in and fill the gap by providing hospital-to-home support that allows individuals to recover in or remain in the comfort of their own homes.”

Sarah points out that many clients have family members who are not local to the Tampa Bay area and that including them is invaluable. “Distance does not have to keep adult children from being involved in their parents' daily lives. Local in-home care can provide medication reminders, track changes and patterns, and offer digital access to notes on daily activities, which keep children aware of how their parents are doing,” Sarah explained. “We believe it is important to provide peace of mind to families and let them know that their loved ones are safe and receiving the best care to live their best lives.”

SYNERGY HomeCare of Tampa provides a wide variety of non-medical services including long term care for clients with ongoing needs such as mobility limitations, memory care, and chronic health conditions that require specialized care needs. Short term recovery support after an injury, illness, or surgery is also available, as well as childcare, backup care, and assistance to expecting families.

Alaina also learned the value of in-home support as a patient. “After knee surgery, I needed help, and even though I had family at home, they weren’t trained to help me complete my post-op recovery and rehabilitation,” she shared. “I also learned a lot as a patient at Moffitt. I never realized how important it can be to have a ride or to have someone who can help after surgery.” Alaina notes that she has already heard from Physicians who are increasingly recommending home care because it allows patients to spend less time in the hospital and facilitates positive outcomes after surgery.

Both Sarah and Alaina agree that care providers are the heart of SYNERGY HomeCare of Tampa. “Our first hire was a seasoned RN we know personally who has decades of experience with homecare,” they note. They also point out that one reason they were drawn to SYNERGY HomeCare was that all care providers are direct employees and trained professionals with credentials and certifications who are carefully matched to the individual needs of each client.
