Female Franchise Partners, Friends Acquire First-Ever Sylvan Learning Center

May 10, 2023 // Franchising.com // Sylvan Learning transferred ownership of its Beaverton, Oregon center to existing franchise owners, Audra Bohn and Amy Paradis.

This is the second Portland-area franchise for the duo who operates another center together in West Linn. Bohn also independently operates a third location in Bend and serves as the president of Sylvan’s Franchise Owners Association. Originally housed in the Sylvan Medical Center, the Beaverton location was the first-ever Sylvan Learning Center.

“Not only did it make sense for us to scale our operations in the Portland area, but it is also an exciting opportunity to assume ownership of the center that started it all,” said Bohn.

Bohn and Paradis’ friendship dates back more than 20 years to when they met on the dance team in high school. Bohn went on to intern with Sylvan Learning in college before graduating with her degree in education. Paradis spent her entire career as a CPA.

“My parents were both entrepreneurs and I’ve always had that spirit in me too,” said Paradis.

“With two children enrolled in primary schools, I’ve seen firsthand the desperate need for supplemental education resources. When Audra proposed partnering together, it was a natural time in my life to transition careers into something I felt passionate about.”

Sylvan Learning has produced proven results for over four decades and uses one of the most advanced technology-based curriculums that provides trackable progress.

“As an educator, all you want is to see your students succeed,” said Bohn. “I know Sylvan’s product works, which is why these centers will be my life’s work. Partnering with my best friend is icing on the cake!”
