Provider of Supplemental, Enrichment Education Resells London Center to New Owner

May 12, 2023 // Franchising.com // Sylvan Learning transferred ownership of its London center in Ontario, Canada to early childhood educator and new franchise owner, Kristen Brekelmans.

Brekelmans is a registered early childhood educator and holds an honors degree in psychology.

She spent her early career as a director of three different childcare centers before making the choice to stay home with her daughter in 2020.

“After the pandemic, I knew I wanted to get back to my passion of working with children,” said Brekelmans. “It seemed like fate when I came across Sylvan and the opportunity to assume ownership of the only location in London. With my background in psychology, I also love that Sylvan builds confidence in students so they can advocate for themselves.”

The London location has been a pillar of the community for decades. “My goal is to build on the established legacy of this center and to make a positive impact on local students,” said Brekelmans. “Post-pandemic learning loss is a real issue for students right now and uncharted territory for educators. Sylvan is the missing piece on their path to recovery and taking their education to the next level.”
