Frenchies Modern Nail Care Makes Exciting Leadership Announcement

Non-Toxic Nail Salon Franchise Names Stephanie Coffey as Co-CEO

May 23, 2023 // Franchising.com // DENVER, Colo. - Frenchies Modern Nail Care announces an exciting change in its top leadership. Stephanie Coffey, the co-founder of the company, takes on the role of Co-CEO of Frenchies, a title she now shares with her husband, Guy Coffey. Stephanie is a visionary leader who has been instrumental in shaking up the nail care sector with her commitment to providing a healthy, clean environment for guests and team members, along with top-tier guest experience.

As the primary franchise development leader, Stephanie has been a key driving force behind the company's success. Prior to taking on the role of CEO at Frenchies, Stephanie served as the brand’s chief operating officer.

“As I take on my new role as co-CEO at Frenchies Modern Nail Care, my responsibilities won’t change dramatically. I will, however, intensify my involvement in the daily decision-making processes,” she says.

The Frenchies Story

Coffey is a lifelong consumer of nail services. She started getting her nails done as a little girl with her grandmother as a special treat. As she grew older, the experience became less and less enjoyable. Not only was the customer service lacking, but she also noticed the salons were dirty, tools were being used repeatedly on clients without being cleaned in between services, and then, of course, there was the familiar toxic smell of chemicals in the air.

She had been looking for a business opportunity that could make a difference. It was at a rushed and uncomfortable nail appointment that Stephanie realized the nail industry needed her to clean up its act.

The first Frenchies opened in Littleton, Colorado, in 2014.

Now, nearly 10 years later, Frenchies is a disrupter in the nail industry - from its membership-based concept to the focus on non-toxic products and high standards for cleanliness. The franchise now serves as a model for health and safety protocols.

  • Frenchies goes above the required Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) regulations and beyond state licensing standards.
  • Franchise locations are designed to include a cutting-edge ERV or Energy Recovery Ventilator that removes stale air and pumps in fresh air - capturing contaminants in the transfer. Most other nail salons just recirculate the air and are not well-ventilated.
  • Frenchies also uses freestanding basins for foot soaks with no jets or pipes to trap harmful bacteria. These basins eliminate the need for plastic liners in the bowls to provide sanitary foot care; so as not to dump extra waste in our landfills.
  • The franchise does not use acrylic nails or dips because these substances contain toxic chemicals that are linked to cancer and respiratory issues.

"The beauty industry is evolving as consumers demand better hygiene standards. At Frenchies, however, we don't need to change a thing. Our motto, ‘We love clean,’ has been our guiding principle from the start. In fact, we like to say we were clean before clean was cool," explains Coffey.

Extensive Experience

Coffey has an impressive business background, having served as a multi-unit franchisee for Anytime Fitness for 15+ years and as a franchise consultant for the brand, where she mentored  franchisees who owned clubs.

She was also the Brand President/SVP of Franchise Development & Support for Waxing the City a portfolio company of Self Esteem Brands.

After receiving a bachelor’s degree in marketing from St. Mary’s University in Minnesota, she obtained a Master of International Management from the American Graduate School of International Management - Thunderbird.

She is passionate about the Frenchies brand and everything it brings to franchise owners, guests, the team, and the community. The company is excited to have Stephanie as Co-CEO and looks forward to continued growth and success under her expanded leadership.
