About LeafSpring School
Founded in 1989, LeafSpring School, formerly known as Rainbow Station, is a Richmond, VA-based provider of expert childcare, early education, school age recreation, summer camps and emergency backup care. Its locations in Indiana, North Carolina, Texas and Virginia are all accredited, or seeking accreditation, by the National Association for the Education of Young Children and AdvancED. Curriculum-based learning using the proprietary curriculum, PLAYWORKS®, is offered for infants through private kindergarten, and the INSPIRED leadership program is taught across all age groups. No other program offering childcare, early education and school-age recreation offers LeafSpring School’s full spectrum of care for the whole child. Its academics, onsite healthcare, and cutting-edge leadership development initiatives make them the leaders in the field.
In 1989, Gail Johnson, RN, MSN, founded Rainbow Station (now LeafSpring School). While on the faculty of the Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University School of Nursing, Gail saw firsthand how families struggled and went into crisis mode when their children had acute or chronic health conditions. LeafSpring School was created as a place where parents and nurses partner to promote the success of each child. In 2018, Rainbow Station rebranded as LeafSpring School, and continued its commitment to excellence in early education and mildly ill care.
