About ohDEEREstablished in 2006 in Wayland, Mass., by co-founders Kurt and Colleen Upham, OhDEER is a provider of innovative and environmentally friendly solutions for deer, tick, and mosquito control. OhDEER specializes in all-natural products designed to address outdoor pest challenges effectively ensuring the well-being of both the environment and customers. OhDEER began franchising in 2014.
Franchise HistoryIn 2006 while working as a Project Manager for the MacDowell Company, Kurt started working on his own deer control product. Having twin baby girls and a puppy, using only all natural ingredients was his main focus. Once his concoction was ready, Kurt reached out to some of his former landscaping clients to test the product. The deer ceased feeding and Kurt and his customers realized that it worked and ohDEER was born, proving that a safe all natural solution could deliver real, lasting results! As word-of-mouth quickly spread and people began seeking out “the ohDEER guy,” He continued to fine-tune his proprietary blend of deer repellent, carefully honing it to produce the great results his customers have come to depend on today. That following spring, Kurt started offering a tick & mosquito solution. Mosquitoes are always an issue, but ticks were becoming a big threat. Again, baby girls and a puppy, an all natural product was a must. A few yard signs and the phone kept ringing, he realized that ohDEER was no longer a “part-time” gig, so in January 2008, Kurt took ohDEER full time.
