Carl's Jr.® Awakens Appetites With Smoked Sausage Breakfast Sandwich(TM)

While development of the breakfast menu has been a key goal for the masterminds behind the zesty Steak & Egg Burrito(TM), hearty Breakfast Burger(TM) and mouthwatering Loaded Breakfast Burrito(TM), it had been a while since a breakfast sandwich had fanned the flames of pre-lunch desire. The hearty-yet-delicate croissant and sausage pairing kindles enthusiasm for even the most discerning of breakfast goers.

"Developing the breakfast menu at Carl's Jr. has been a key emphasis for us over the past few years -- and it shows. We've now got an impressive line-up of early-morning offerings and we don't even carry English muffins," said Brad Haley, executive vice president of marketing. "The Smoked Sausage Breakfast Sandwich, along with our line of big, delicious burritos, helps give Carl's Jr. the kind of great-tasting breakfast menu you can't get anywhere else."

The Smoked Sausage Breakfast Sandwich is available during breakfast hours and sells for $2.39 at most company-owned restaurants. A combo meal includes coffee and hash brown nuggets and sells for $3.89. Pricing may vary.

This year, Carl's Jr. celebrates 65 years in the quick-service industry. What began as a lone hot dog cart in Los Angeles, Calif. in 1941 is today an international organization that employs nearly 30,000 people worldwide. Carl's Jr. is a wholly owned subsidiary of CKE Restaurants, Inc. (NYSE: CKR) of Carpinteria, Calif. As of the first fiscal quarter ended May 22, 2006, CKE Restaurants, Inc., through its subsidiaries, had a total of 3,141 franchised or company-owned restaurants in 43 states and in 13 countries, including 1,062 Carl's Jr. restaurants, 1,963 Hardee's restaurants and 100 La Salsa Fresh Mexican Grill restaurants.
