The Dairy Queen® System Names National Award Winners

January 04, 2014 // Franchising.com // MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – Unified Supply Chain, Inc. (USCI), a wholly owned subsidiary of International Dairy Queen, Inc. (IDQ), has recognized three of its most innovative suppliers with company awards.

USCI annually honors companies that have delivered extraordinary service to the Dairy Queen® system. Companies recognized this year are Birchwood Foods in Kenosha, Wisc. with the Supplier of the Year Award; Galliker Dairy in Johnston, Pa. with the Dairy of the Year Award; and U.S. Foods Northwest in Fife, Wash. with the Distributor of the Year Award.and

"Each of our honorees have contributed to the growth and success of the Dairy Queen system in 2013," said Roger Hubbard, Chief Supply Chain Officer for USCI. "We appreciate their hard work and dedication in exceeding our very stringent guidelines and in consistently providing superior service and outstanding support."

Birchwood Foods has partnered with the Dairy Queen system for 38 years. In 2013, the Supplier of the Year Award winner worked closely with the DQ® system on several successful cost saving strategies as the supplier of its ground beef patties, a key ingredient in the roll out of the innovative DQ $5 Buck Lunch that launched in 2013.

A 15-year strategic dairy partner of the Dairy Queen system, Galliker Dairy received the top score on product quality, customer service and system support to receive the Dairy of the Year Award. Galliker revised its program to reduce costs in existing distribution areas, as well as expand to additional distribution areas at a reduced price.

To become Distributor of the Year, a company must receive a superior rating in delivery performance and accuracy with the Dairy Queen system and that’s just what U.S. Foods Northwest achieved. U.S. Foods Northwest and its predecessor company, previous Distributor of the Year Award winner Monte Vista Distributing, have been servicing the DQ system since 1980.
