Zippy Shell USA, LLC heads to the "The Big Apple" with the sale of Manhattan location!

July 24, 2014 // Franchising.com // Washington, D.C. - Zippy Shell USA, LLC is proud to announce they have taken a huge leap in the portable storage and moving industries with the sale of a franchise location in Manhattan, New York. This new franchise, under the ownership of Phillip Kim, will give unprecedented service to one of the most densely populated areas in the United States.

After growing up in Long Island and going to college in Boston, Kim moved back to New York, taking residence in New York City. In the early 1990s, Kim and some college classmates started one of the first Internet Service Providers in New York City and possibly one of the first companies of its kind in the entire world. He has also worked for a variety of Internet-startup companies in the past as well. Kim's previous experiences will be invaluable for the Zippy Shell® Brand, especially with the addition of more service coverage to such a sizable metropolitan area.

"After working with several Internet-startups, I was looking for something where I could be an entrepreneur again," Kim said. "The more people I talked to, the more people I realized were storing something. I think Zippy Shell brings a really differentiated product, a product that allows the most broad spectrum of service that customers may want."

What makes this sale especially important isn't just the fact that the Zippy Shell® Brand is expanding to a new market, it's the fact that the Zippy Shell® Brand is headed into uncharted territory. No competitors of Zippy Shell are currently located in Manhattan, giving Zippy Shell full access to a wide array of potential customers with storage needs.

"Going into Manhattan is a major accomplishment for us as a company," CEO of Zippy Shell USA, LLC Rick Del Sontro said. In the upcoming weeks, Kim will be working closely with the staff from Zippy Shell, USA to prepare for the launch of this new Zippy Shell franchise venue. One of the ways that Kim will be adapting the large population and rules of Manhattan is by using branded box trucks instead of trailers. Since trailers are not allowed in the tunnels, a branded box truck using Zippy Shell's patent pending and unique container system, will be utilized to move the customers' goods to his secure, climate-controlled storage facility.

"I'm looking to partner with some 'white-glove' movers so if you're a customer who is looking to outsource the whole thing - packing, loading and so on, I think that it, combined with Zippy Shell, is the most cost-effective solution in the area," Kim said. "It will be an incredibly competitive offering for many consumers out there because there are so many uses for Zippy Shell in the area."

Zippy Shell of Manhattan is the 46th overall franchise and the 11th franchise to be sold in 2014.
