Dentons Welcomes Two New Counsel in Vancouver Office

September 30, 2014 - Vancouver - Dentons Canada LLP is pleased to announce that Mai Rempel and Don Smith have joined the Firm, both as Counsel. Based in Dentons' Vancouver office, Mai and Don bring expanded depth and expertise to the Firm in each of their respective areas of practice.

Mai Rempel has extensive expertise and experience acting as lead counsel and senior negotiator in relation to Aboriginal, property and environmental, energy law, as well as major capital project development. Her practice includes providing legal and strategic advice, leading treaty and settlement negotiations, and also includes solicitors work in relation to the drafting of a diverse range of agreements, with various parties, including with First Nations. Mai was called to the bar in 1999.

Don Smith is a known leader in the areas of insurance law and litigation. Recognized by The Best Lawyers in Canada 2013 (insurance) and by Benchmark Litigation (litigation), Don is a significant addition to Vancouver's Construction Group, where he will provide counsel on construction defence, defence of municipalities, product liability, and defence for property and liability insurers in complex multi-party claims. Most recently, Don was included in the Best Lawyers in Canada rankings for 2014. Don was called to the BC Bar in 1991.
