Cousins Subs® In Appleton, Wis. Supports Those In Need

Restaurant Makes Monetary Donation To Fox Valley Warming Shelter

January 23, 2015 // Franchising.com // APPLETON, WIS. – Cousins Subs® located at 706 W. Northland Ave. in Appleton, Wis. recently donated approximately $838 to the Fox Valley Warming Shelter (FVWS), which provides homeless men and women with life’s basic needs - shelter, food, clothing and safety - along with referrals to local resources to help them achieve self-sufficiency.

Funds were raised through the restaurant’s "Stuff the Stocking" fundraiser that ran throughout the holiday season. Supporters were able to purchase paper ornaments for $1 or stop by the restaurant’s donation night event where 10 percent of proceeds went to FVWS.

"As a member of this community, I feel it is imperative to come together to help those in need," said Kim Seidler, owner of the Northland Avenue Cousins Subs. "I am extremely grateful to the Fox Valley community in their support of our fundraiser and in assisting the Fox Valley Warming Shelter in its mission to help men and women overcome and thrive."

"Here at the Shelter, our numbers have doubled in the past year. That means our budget has increased as well! We rely on donations to make sure we have staff, food, lights and water," said Connie Raether, volunteer coordinator at FVWS. "The monetary donations, monthly supply of chips for lunches, and the awareness that is raised through the donation night and the "Stuff the Stocking" fundraiser mean so much! Having a partner like Kim at Cousins is awesome!"

The Cousins Subs on Northland Avenue first opened in May 1993 and transitioned ownership to Kim Siedler in January 2003. Under Siedler’s ownership, she continues to support FVWS through monthly donations of Cousins Subs famous Better Bread and signature chips.

About Cousins Subs®

Cousins Subs® and its franchisees operate more than 120 sub sandwich shops in three states, with bold expansion plans. The first Cousins Subs was established in Milwaukee in 1972 by Bill Specht and his cousin. Their dream was to bring East Coast-style sub sandwiches to Milwaukee – with their own deli fresh touch. They started with their bread, developing a secret recipe with the perfect taste and crunch. That bread is the cornerstone of the Cousins Subs slogan, "Better Bread. Better Subs." The original recipe is still closely followed at every Cousins Subs restaurant, where each sandwich is made to order using freshly sliced deli meats, cheeses, and vegetables – and the bread is baked fresh each day. Forty-two years later and still family owned, Cousins Subs employees and franchisees are driven by their mission to "Make it a Better Day" in all they do. In 2013, the brand proudly announced the establishment of the Make it Better Foundation, dedicated to funding causes that address health and wellness, hunger and youth education in the communities that Cousins Subs serves.
