Firkin Group Of Pubs Signs Husband-wife Duo As New Franchisees

Locals to Develop Four Units in Wichita

June 05, 2007 // Franchising.com // Ontario,— Firkin Group of Pubs, the largest and fastest growing English pub chain in North America, recently inked a multi-unit franchise agreement with Paul and Kari Russell bringing four pubs to Wichita. The husband-wife duo expects to open their first pub by June 2008 in Sedgwick County.

"We are really excited about bringing the Firkin pubs to Sedgwick County," says Kari. "It's a great place that combines both the family aspects of a restaurant with the bar atmosphere of a club or lounge."

The Russell's have a long standing history in the restaurant industry. The couple met while working in restaurants their families owned in the same plaza in Florida.

"Paul grew up in Canada. His father was born in Canada and his mother in England, so he knows how a real English pub should look and feel, given the two family backgrounds," says Kari. "Firkin has the atmosphere down and we know it is going to be a hit with the locals here in Wichita."
