Dermacare Introduces New, Lower-Cost Franchise Option for Smaller Markets

Dermacare Laser Clinics Enable Owners to Offer Comprehensive Aesthetic Skin-Care Services within Existing Practice Space

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dermacare Laser & Skin Care Clinics®, the only physician-based laser and aesthetic skin-care franchisor in the world, today announced the availability of Dermacare Laser Clinic® (DLC), a new franchise model for existing medical practices. This "add-on" model, which is designed for physicians in a smaller demographic area with populations of 75,000 or less, will increase Dermacare's 90 percent physician ownership rate (45 percent of which are a result of multiple-clinic ownership).

For a fraction of the investment of the traditional clinic model, physicians will be able to offer laser and injectable services to their community simply by adding the Dermacare brand and technology to their existing practice. With Dermacare's 100 percent market share of the physician-based laser and aesthetic franchise market and 25 percent of the overall franchised med-spa industry, this is an ideal partnership for a physician looking to offer laser and aesthetic services to their patients.

"The Dermacare Laser Clinic is the ideal way for physicians to generate extra revenue from cash-based services and it's also a great way to expand their scope of services and area of expertise," says Dermacare CEO and president Carl Mudd. "They will be able to offer the in-demand procedures, unmatched safety and high-quality results that Dermacare is known for. And, because they will simply be 'adding on' to their practice, they can very quickly begin offering the new treatments to their existing patients, as well as their surrounding community."

These "practice enhancers" will be branded differently from a full-service clinic in that the physician's practice will retain its unique identity; they will add the Dermacare system and logo to their name plate. They also will only require a single laser (as opposed to three or more) to fulfill some of the core Dermacare services. On every level, they will be equivalent to a full-service clinic, but they will only have one room and one laser dedicated to noninvasive, Dermacare procedures.

Although the number of treatments will be fewer, the single-laser option still allows for the following procedures:

* Laser Hair Removal
* Laser Vein Removal
* Pearl™ Laser Resurfacing (stimulates collagen growth)
* LimeLight™ Facial (treats diffused redness and facial telangiectasia)
* Laser Genesis (Treats wrinkles, large pores, uneven skin texture and redness)
* FotoFacial™ (erases age spots, sun damage, spider veins and redness)
* Titan® Collagen Acceleration (reduces skin laxity and promotes wrinkle reduction)
* 3D Skin Perfection (a combination of Titan®, FotoFacial™ and Laser Genesis)
* Injectables (BOTOX®, Radiesse®, Restylane®, JuvédermTM and Sclerotherapy)

DLC has a low initial franchise fee, more than half of the standard model's franchise fee. It is being offered to practices that are already established and profitable and, preferably, the community leaders in their specialties. Ideal candidates are OB/Gyns and family practitioners. The primary goal is to bring Dermacare services to communities that would otherwise not have access to a Dermacare clinic, at a low cost to the physician.

"For physicians, this innovative franchise option reduces the financial risks involved with doing laser and injectable treatments on their own," said Mudd. "Dermacare Laser Clinic franchisees receive all the benefits associated with the standard, full-service Dermacare franchise model: expertise in technology, training, marketing and management systems."

DLC franchisees will still benefit from having custom graphic designing, press releases and support from the corporate marketing department. They will also receive the world-class training that Dermacare is known for, overseen by Dermacare's chairman of the corporate medical board, Sidney B. Smith, MD, FAAD, and conducted under the auspices of the University of Florida College of Medicine. They also will receive up to 30 percent savings on "best in class" technology over the lowest established, high-volume discount. All of Dermacare's technology has been reviewed and approved by the company's corporate medical board of board certified physicians.

"Under this lower-cost Dermacare franchise opportunity, physicians can determine their own marketing commitments based on their individual market," says Dermacare marketing director Brandy Witte. "They will not have to commit to the normally required $25,000 investment for grand-opening marketing. In fact, they won't be subject to any marketing spend or performance requirements, which makes it even easier to incorporate into a practice."

Dermacare has freestanding franchises from coast to coast, in Alabama, Arizona, California, Florida, Indiana, Missouri, New York, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Washington. They have also started their international expansion into Asia, with a clinic opening in Singapore in Dec. 2007. Each full-service clinic has exclusive geographic operating rights, enabling physicians to invest in single or multiple locations.
