Choice was not an option when Dave and Patty Parcheta, owners of their new Deer Park Town Center store partnered with Brilliant Sky Toys & Books®' corporate designers to co-design the interior of Brilliant Sky Toys & Books®. They went "green" all the way to create the safest possible environment in which children and their families can explore and shop.

Deer Park, IL,--(PR.com)-- Choice was not an option when Dave and Patty Parcheta, owners of their new Deer Park Town Center store partnered with Brilliant Sky Toys & Books®' corporate designers to co-design the interior of Brilliant Sky Toys & Books®. They went "green" all the way to create the safest possible environment in which children and their families can explore and shop.

The Sustainable Retailing Consortium reports that environmentally friendly choices often bring down costs while boosting both consumer and employee loyalty. The primary point is that business owners should only take those steps that make sense for their individual businesses.

"Even though we were opening the 5th of a franchised business, we wanted to set a precedent and make a real difference in our footprint" Parcheta says. "The store is merchandised much like the rest, but we went the extra mile incorporating sustainable and recycled design elements everywhere we could. We're all about play as the new learn, and it just felt right to invite parents and their children into an organic environment."

Brilliant Sky Toys & Books® also encourages its employees to print on both sides of paper; utilize recycling bins; and make sure water faucets, lights and the overhead stereo system are turned off when they are not in use.

"After reading about "light audits" in a recent article, we began to shut off the lights as normal, then walk around in the dark with a flashlight and look for power lights that give away other electrical items that are still on, "says Parcheta. "I disagree with Kermit, and stand by the philosophy that it Is easy to be green. And, it's the most eco- responsible choice for the future of our children."

The design elements that are featured in the Deer Park location include: bamboo, a dense grass, which grows faster than hardwoods and as such is an easily replenishable resource recycled carpeting, which reduces dependency on oil and without fumes and toxic emissions and low-volatile non toxic paints which reduces fumes, landfill, groundwater and ozone depleting contaminants.
