Steven Young Reeves Selected as a Top Asian Pacific American Lawyer Under 40

Minneapolis - November 8, 2013 - Steven Young Reeves of Faegre Baker Daniels LLP was chosen as a 2013 Best Lawyer Under 40 by the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA).

According to NAPABA, the Best Lawyers Under 40 designation highlights attorneys within the Asian Pacific American community under the age of 40 who have achieved prominence and distinction in their profession and who have demonstrated a strong commitment to Asian Pacific American civic or community affairs.

Reeves is a partner and corporate lawyer at FaegreBD specializing in strategic domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions. He has advised companies including UnitedHealth Group, General Mills Inc., 3M Company, the Dolan Company and Gander Mountain Company on significant transactions. Reeves also counsels clients on foreign direct investments, international licensing and distribution arrangements, foreign merger control matters and acquisitions subject to the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS).

An advocate for diversity in the legal industry, Reeves is a member of NAPABA's national board of governors and a member of the board of directors and past president of the Minnesota Asian Pacific American Bar Association (MNAPABA). Reeves played an integral role in MNAPABA's development, including by co-chairing the NAPABA Central Region Conference, which had not taken place since the late 1980s, raising the profile and fundraising abilities of MNAPABA, and serving as a founding board member of The NAPABA-MN Foundation.

Reeves' commitment to inclusiveness also involves developing diverse leaders. In June 2013, he helped organize the inaugural Collaborative Bar Leadership Academy. This joint initiative of the American Bar Association, Hispanic National Bar Association, National Bar Association, National Native American Bar Association and NAPABA was a coordinated effort to strengthen the pipeline of diverse bar association leaders by providing leadership training and professional development programs. As a member of the inaugural steering committee and as co-chair of the sponsorship committee, Reeves was instrumental in securing space, funding and speakers for the event.

At FaegreBD, Reeves is a member of the firm's Diversity & Inclusion Advisory Group and a co-leader of the Diverse Lawyers' Resource Group, which allows diverse lawyers to build cross-office support networks and generate solutions to real or perceived career barriers.

Reeves and the other honorees received the Best Lawyers Under 40 awards at a ceremony on November 7, 2013, at the 25th Annual NAPABA National Convention in Kansas City, Mo.

NAPABA is the national association of Asian Pacific American attorneys, judges, law professors and law students. Through its national network of committees and affiliates, NAPABA provides a strong voice for increased diversity of the federal and state judiciaries, advocates for equal opportunity in the workplace, works to eliminate hate crimes and anti-immigrant sentiment, and promotes the professional development of people of color in the legal profession.
