Shiv O'Neill Selected to Leadership Council on Legal Diversity's 2014 Fellows Program

March 04, 2014 // Franchising.com // Indianapolis - Shiv Ghuman O'Neill of Faegre Baker Daniels LLP has been named to the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity's (LCLD) 2014 Fellows Program, which trains high-potential attorneys from diverse backgrounds for leadership roles.

O'Neill, a finance and restructuring partner in FaegreBD's Indianapolis office, joins a class of more than 170 peer attorneys from LCLD member organizations around the country - the largest class in the program's history. The highly structured mentoring program is designed to develop an up-and-coming generation of diverse lawyers and ultimately increase diversity at the leadership levels of the nation's law firms and corporate legal departments.

"Our Fellows Program is a unique learning experience designed to empower a new generation of lawyers," said Brad Smith, LCLD chair and executive vice president and general counsel of Microsoft Corporation. "These talented individuals have been singled out for leadership by their organizations, and represent a broad spectrum of backgrounds that are as diverse as the country they serve."

Throughout the year-long program, participants are challenged to improve their professional brand, build relationships that enhance professional development, participate in corporate learning experiences, and sharpen stewardship and leadership skills.

O'Neill specializes in litigating disputes arising from complex financial transactions. She represents clients in matters involving breach of contract, commercial fraud, lender liability, breach of fiduciary duty, and other claims brought by or against financial institutions. O'Neill is a member of the National Association of Women Business Owners and the Indiana Association for Corporate Renewal. She is also a member of the board of trustees of The Orchard School, a former board member of the National Association of Women in Construction's Indianapolis chapter and Indiana Federal Community Defenders, and has served on the Indiana State Bar Association's Racial Diversity in the Legal Profession Committee.

"We were excited to offer this opportunity to Shiv, who is a remarkably talented lawyer with strong leadership skills," said Andrew Humphrey, managing partner of Faegre Baker Daniels. "We have every confidence that she will continue to grow and develop through the innovative LCLD Fellows Program."

Founded in 2009, LCLD is a national organization made up of 215 general counsel and managing partners of the leading corporations and law firms in the country, who are dedicated to creating a truly diverse legal profession. The Fellows Program was launched by LCLD in 2011.
