Cousins Subs® Founder and CEO, Bill Specht, to be Inducted into Wisconsin Business Hall of Fame

Specht Chosen for his Strong Business Savvy, Entrepreneurial Vision and Community Spirit

MILWAUKEE (April 4, 2014) – Cousins Subs® founder and CEO, Bill Specht will be inducted into the Wisconsin Business Hall of Fame (WBHF) on Thursday, April 10th. The WBHF recognizes and honors the professional accomplishments of visionary businessmen and women who have shaped the state's economic landscape. Specht was chosen for his strong business savvy, entrepreneurial vision and community spirit.

Bill Specht"When we founded Cousins Subs in 1972, we knew we were on to something special – a better sub sandwich experience for the people in Wisconsin," Specht said. "We have never taken any shortcuts when it comes to creating and growing a strong business model, great community partnerships and our deli-fresh sandwiches."

Each year, legendary business leaders are honored at the Wisconsin Business Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Benefit Dinner, with proceeds benefiting Junior Achievement. This year's introduction ceremony will take place on Thursday, April 10th at 5:15 p.m. at the Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee.

"Cousins Subs has had the good fortune to be able to give back to community programs throughout our 42 years in business," Specht continued. "Last year, we formalized our charitable giving through our Make It Better Foundation that established three areas of interest we believe are vital to any community: health and wellness, hunger and youth education. Junior Achievement is a wonderful organization that gives children the ability to learn real-world skills."

WBHF laureates are selected through a selection committee comprised of inducted Laureates and Business Deans from the state's universities and colleges. The laureates inducted this year are innovative business leaders who have positively shaped Wisconsin's business climate.

"Bill Specht's vision, commitment to excellence and passion to serve others make him a wonderful laureate selection," said Tim Greinert, President, Junior Achievement of Wisconsin. "Junior Achievement is proud to be associated with the Wisconsin Business Hall of Fame as we honor individuals like Bill Specht who are truly role models for the next generation of business leaders".

About Cousins Subs

Cousins Subs® and its franchisees operate more than 130 sub sandwich shops in four states, with bold expansion plans. The first Cousins Subs was established in Milwaukee in 1972 by Bill Specht and his cousin. Their dream was to bring East Coast-style sub sandwiches to Milwaukee – with their own handcrafted touch. They started with their bread, developing a secret recipe with the perfect taste and crunch. That bread is the cornerstone of the Cousins Subs slogan, "Better Bread. Better Subs. Better Day." The original recipe is still closely followed at every Cousins Subs store, where each sandwich is made to order using freshly sliced deli meats, cheeses, and vegetables – and the bread is baked fresh each day. Forty-one years later and still family owned, Cousins Subs employees and franchisees are driven by their mission to "Make it a Better Day" in all they do. In 2013, the brand proudly announced the establishment of the Make it Better Foundation, dedicated to funding causes that address health and wellness, hunger and youth education in the communities that Cousins Subs serves.
