CiCi's Pizza Teams Up With Special Olympics Georgia

Local Restaurants Kick off Fundraising Efforts July 1

COPPELL, Texas - June 30, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ - Beginning tomorrow through the end of July, CiCi's Pizza, home of the endless buffet, will raise money for Special Olympics Georgia at three participating CiCi's restaurants in the state. Guests can purchase Special Olympics paper logos for $1 and in return receive a coupon for a free regular-sized drink redeemable in August with the purchase of an adult buffet. All proceeds from the logo sales will benefit Special Olympics Georgia state programs.

To celebrate the beginning of the month-long fundraiser, Special Olympics athletes will be on hand for meet-and-greets with guests at most participating Georgia restaurants on Saturday, July 12, from 11a.m. -1 p.m.

"Cover the Cruiser" events at participating restaurants will cap off the effort on Thursday, July 31. CiCi's will challenge guests to purchase enough Special Olympics paper logos to cover an entire law enforcement vehicle. In addition to donating all logo proceeds, participating CiCi's will donate 10 percent of that day's sales to Special Olympics Georgia.

"This is our third year to partner with Special Olympics, and we are honored to engage our teams and guests to benefit such an admirable organization again this year," said CiCi's Field Marketing Manager Diana Isaacson. "CiCi's cares about its communities and all the families that make them great. We invite our guests to come in and help us support this worthy cause."

Special Olympics Georgia provides year-round sports training and athletic competitions in a variety of Olympic-type events for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. This training gives participants the opportunity to develop physically and emotionally while experiencing joy and sharing gifts, skills and friendships.

"Special Olympics allows people with intellectual disabilities to be part of a larger community of athletes, coaches, volunteers and supporters," said Georgia Milton-Sheats, president and CEO of Special Olympics Georgia. "By partnering with CiCi's Pizza, we are able to help more individuals and families in Georgia."

CiCi's will partner with other statewide Special Olympics chapters in the United States, including Florida, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania for this fundraising event. For locations nearest you, visit

About Special Olympics Georgia

Special Olympics Georgia provides year-round sports training and athletic competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Our goal is to help bring persons with intellectual disabilities into the larger society under conditions whereby they are accepted, respected, and given the chance to become useful and productive citizens. When we achieve this goal through our sports program, we demonstrate that Special Olympics has a unique value: to show the world that every person counts and that every person can be something good when we work together. Special Olympics Georgia invests in people with intellectual disabilities, helping them to develop athletic skills, while also promoting the abilities of the athletes off the field. When our athletes succeed, attitudes change, communities develop, health and self-esteem are built, and the eyes of the world are focused on all that is good and hopeful and positive. Athletes gain skills for employment, learn independent living skills, form relationships and help others understand their extraordinary capabilities despite health issues they experience daily. Twenty-five different sports are offered for athletes to experience. Athletes ranging from age eight through senior participate in Special Olympics, gaining life skills and confidence in their athletic ability. Athletes ages 2-7 may also now participate via our Young Athletes (TM) program. SOGA is truly a grassroots effort. Only through a volunteer base of more than 25,000 are we able to fulfill our mission in serving our athletes and continue to grow. The volunteers are dedicated to providing the highest quality programs and services to the athletes and serve as area directors, certified coaches, event staff, unified sports partners and fundraisers. The continuing success of the organization depends on the ongoing support of the community. Please visit Special Olympics Georgia's website at for more information about our program!
