High-intensity Interval Fitness Franchise Plans Opening in California This September

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - July 24, 2014 // PRNewswire // - Orangetheory® Fitness, the energizing and fast-growing fitness franchise, today announced that a new studio will be coming to Thousand Oaks, Calif. The Thousand Oaks studio will be located in Paseo Market Place in the Westlake Village community. There are nine Orangetheory Fitness studios currently open in California with several in development.

"Rachel Mickelson, Tom Starko and I started a conversation several years ago about the possibility of partnering and collaborating in the health and wellness industry. We felt that our individual areas of expertise would combine to make a well-rounded team," said Natalie Sampson, one of the three co-owners of the new studio. "Orangetheory Fitness became the perfect opportunity to realize our potential as a team with the common goal of making a difference."

Tom Starko, a seasoned executive with a 30-year track record of building value in middle market companies, has owned Bulwark Protective Apparel Inc., PIXIT LLC, DHV Advisors, Starberg Productions and VISTAR LLC. Starko shaped the start-up Bulwark Protective Apparel into one of North America's largest protective apparel companies and most admired brands before selling it to a Fortune 500 company. Rachel Mickelson, MSOD, is the founder and principal of VISTAR LLC. Mickelson has more than 14 years of experience in executive coaching, helping CEOs and board chairs alike become leaders within their organizations. Natalie Sampson, DPT, is the owner of Symmetry Physical Therapy and Symmetry Pilates & Yoga in Calabasas, Calif. She specializes in the evaluation and treatment of orthopedic injuries. The group has future plans to continue expanding the Orangetheory Brand in Conejo Valley.

Orangetheory Fitness has more than 110 locations in the U.S., Canada and U.K. Orangetheory Fitness launched its first studio in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. in March 2010, and has transformed into one of the world's top fitness franchises.
