Three Fans Score Big In Cousins Subs and UW Athletics Social Media Contest

March 24, 2015 // Franchising.com // MILWAUKEE – Three fans score big in Cousins Subs® 'Three Point Shootout' social media contest— the second promotion run with UW Athletics as part of a one-year partnership.

The contest, which ran from Jan. 26 to Feb. 22, had approximately 8,600 contest app visits and more than 3,300 entries. During the contest, fans were invited to answer three Badger trivia questions on Cousins Facebook page for a shot to win one of the three following prizes: a weekend pass to the Conference Basketball Championship Tournament in Chicago, Ill.; free Cousins Subs for a year; a $100 Cousins Subs gift card and many other Wisconsin Badgers prizes.

In addition to the contest, Cousins kept fans engaged by hosting opportunities on its social media channels to win various Cousins Subs and Badgers prizes.

“Through the 'Three Point Shootout' contest, we were able to further demonstrate our commitment to our state university as a Wisconsin-based brand,” said Justin McCoy, vice president of marketing at Cousins Subs. “We've received a great response to both social media contests run in conjunction with UW Athletics and look forward to further engagement with Badger's fans. On, Wisconsin!”

The following fans scored big in the 'Three Point Shootout' contest:

  • Grand Prize Winner: Bill Fischer of Suamico, Wis., won two tickets for all sessions to the Men's Conference Basketball Championship held on March 13 - March 15, 2015 in Chicago, Ill., a three night hotel stay at the Whitehall Hotel in Chicago, Ill. and a $500 travel stipend.
  • First Place Winner: Rick Wolff, a UW Alumni and resident of McFarland, Wis., received free subs for a year and a Wisconsin Badgers Sports Package.
  • Second Place Winner: Matt Thome of Neenah, Wis., took home a $100 Cousins Subs gift card and a Wisconsin Badgers Sports Package.

“I thought the contest would be fun to try and I'm a Badger fan so I thought I'd give it a try and see what happens,” said Fischer. “I'm very excited and grateful to have the chance to experience the conference tournament!” said Fischer.

As a sponsor of UW Athletics, Cousins Subs is selling select subs at Camp Randall (in Badger Alley and Breese Terrace) during all Badgers football games and the Kohl Center for men's basketball and men's hockey home games during the 2015 sports season.

About Cousins Subs

Cousins Subs® and its franchisees operate more than 110 sub sandwich shops in three states, with bold expansion plans. The first Cousins Subs was established in Milwaukee in 1972 by Bill Specht and his cousin. Their dream was to bring East Coast-style sub sandwiches to Milwaukee – with their own deli fresh touch. They started with their bread, developing a secret recipe with the perfect taste and crunch. That bread is the cornerstone of the Cousins Subs slogan, “Better Bread. Better Subs.” The original recipe is still closely followed at every Cousins Subs restaurant, where each sandwich is made to order using freshly sliced deli meats, cheeses, and vegetables – and the bread is baked fresh each day. Forty-two years later and still family owned, Cousins Subs employees and franchisees are driven by their mission to “Make it a Better Day” in all they do. In 2013, the brand proudly announced the establishment of the Make it Better Foundation, dedicated to funding causes that address health and wellness, hunger and youth education in the communities that Cousins Subs serves.
