April 02, 2015 // Franchising.com // TEMPE, Ariz. – In a strategic move to expand the franchise system and continue to build unit-level economics for its franchisees, former Home Brands Group™ CEO and President Mark Dawson announced today that he, former bluefrog Plumbing + Drain® Vice President of Operations Jeff Moody and a group of private investors have purchased bluefrog Plumbing + Drain. Their goal is for bluefrog Plumbing + Drain to become the premier plumbing and drain-cleaning service company in North America.
Dawson, who has a reputation for moving brands forward and building the right systems to sustain long-term growth, also previously served as President of the Dwyer Group’s Glass Doctor and was a franchisee of Glass Doctor and Mr. Rooter. He most recently served as CEO and President of Home Brands Group—which owned and operated bluefrog Plumbing + Drain, along with home remodeling companies Re-Bath® and 5 Day Kitchens™—since 2011.
By separating from the parent company, Dawson said he can focus 100 percent of his energies on building the emerging plumbing and drain services franchise into a household name.
“As a service company and pure franchise brand, bluefrog Plumbing + Drain will benefit from a growth strategy specifically catered to its service offerings and operations,” said Dawson, CEO of bluefrog Plumbing + Drain. “bluefrog Plumbing + Drain just wrapped-up its first year in business with 24 franchise units operating nationwide. With my attention entirely focused on bluefrog, we are expecting to add 25 new franchise partners this year as well as continuing to grow the brand’s culture and executing our vision for the franchise.”
While developing bluefrog Plumbing + Drain, Dawson recruited Moody to lead operations for the new franchise. Moody previously served as the Vice President of Operations for the Dwyer’s Group Mr. Rooter brand for eight years, where the two met and developed a friendship and mutual respect for each other’s leadership and expertise. Moody’s main objective is to enhance the performance of bluefrog Plumbing + Drain franchise partners through execution of the brand’s blueservice Standards™ and franchise growth. With this new ownership, Moody is now the President and Chief Operating Officer of bluefrog Plumbing + Drain.
“We had a tremendous first year and already have a solid start to 2015,” Moody said. “The strength, history and success of our investor group offers a unique resource to execute our mission of becoming the premier plumbing and drain-cleaning service franchise in North America, and puts us in an ideal position to continue our efforts of building a community of successful franchise partners.”
The company retains its entire home office team of experienced operations, marketing, field support and franchise sales professionals.
“The sale of bluefrog Plumbing + Drain to Mark Dawson, Jeff Moody and their investors was a strategic move that benefits all parties,” said Home Brands Group CEO Brad Hillier, who previously served as the company’s Chief Financial Officer. “bluefrog Plumbing + Drain has a solid foundation and will flourish even more with Mark and Jeff driving the brand in full force. We’re excited to see them take the franchise to new heights.”
