Shreveport Welcomes ‘America’s Best Sports Bar’ on Monday

Make Walk-On’s Shreveport your go-to destination for fresh Louisiana cuisine, hand-pressed burgers served in a fun game day atmosphere by America’s Cheerleaders

October 09, 2015 // Franchising.com // SHREVEPORT - Walk-On’s Bistreaux & Bar, voted “Best Sports Bar in North America” by ESPN, is opening its first franchise location in Shreveport on Monday, Oct. 12.

The 8,000-square-foot restaurant located at 7031 Youree Drive (near 70th St) boasts more than 60 high-definition flat-screen TVs, over 45 beers on tap, custom pour-your-own table taps, a banquet facility and a festive beer garden in the large outdoor patio.

The restaurant will seat up to 260 guests and has brought roughly 120 new jobs to the city.

“I can’t tell you how excited we all are to finally welcome the people of the Port City to our Walk-On’s,” said franchisee and Shreveport native Chris McJunkins. “The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous and it’s exactly what sports fans and Cajun food lovers in Shreveport have been waiting for – whether they knew it or not!”

McJunkins, a 34-year veteran of the restaurant industry, heads up a partnership group formed for the venture that includes former LSU football star Jacob Hester and former LSU baseball star Todd Walker.

Walk-On’s menu features quality food made with the finest ingredients including Louisiana seafood and hand-pressed burgers, served in a fun “game day” atmosphere by America’s Cheerleaders.

Prior to the official grand opening, McJunkins, Hester, Walker and additional investors will be hosting a VIP night where a portion of the evening’s sales will be donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Shreveport, which is dedicated to the health and well-being of children in the Ark-La-Tex area.

“I’m so happy for Chris, Jacob, Todd and everyone else associated with Walk-On’s in Shreveport,” said Brandon Landry, co-founder and owner of Walk-On’s Enterprises. “They’ve poured their hearts and souls into their restaurant, and they’ve done an outstanding job. Being that this is the first franchise location opening, I could not be happier with Chris and his team, and I truly believe they are going to change the dining landscape in Shreveport.”

In May, New Orleans Saints superstar Drew Brees and his wife, Brittany, bought into Walk-On’s Enterprises as co-owners. Drew pointed out that Walk-On’s is “a great place to bring my family, teammates and business colleagues” and that they were excited to help “expand the brand across the nation.”

The newest grand opening marks the sixth Walk-On’s location – two in Baton Rouge and one each in New Orleans, Lafayette, Houma and Shreveport. Other locations are under construction in Juban Crossing, Zachary and Lubbock, Texas. Several additional markets across the Southern United States are likewise on the drawing board.
