Decorating Den Interiors Presents Best Of Year’s Designs On Showcase Website

July 01, 2016 // Franchising.com // Decorating Den Interiors, North America’s largest interior design and home furnishings franchise company,  is showcasing award-winning room makeovers from this year’s 32nd International Dream Room Contest at http://www.decoratingden.com/dream-room-showcase/. The design showcase features the top three makeovers in each of 12 categories as judged by an esteemed panel of international home furnishings journalists. Nearly 300 rooms were entered in the competition.

Designs showcased are from 27 different decorators from throughout the U.S. and Canada.

The website also introduces visitors to the winners of Decorating Den Interiors’ top three design awards:

  • Decorating Den’s top design honor–Decorator of the Year–went to sisters Barbara Elliott and Jennifer Ward-Woods, franchise owners in Stone Mountain, Ga. whose bedroom makeover won first place in that category and won best overall. They also won first place in the bathroom category, second in home office and third and family room. This is the second time they have been Decorator of the Year.
  • The Donayre Award, named after the Decorating Den Interiors Vice President for Design Carol Donayre Bugg and voted on by other franchise owners, also went to Elliott and Ward-Woods for their bedroom design.
  • The Peoples Choice Award, selected from more than 30,000 online votes cast throughout North America, went to Leen Zabalawi, of Rochester Hills, Mich., for her contemporary den. She also won third place in the commercial category, a room that also took second in the online voting.

“These makeovers were done within real budgets for real homeowners, not staged,” said Carol Donarye Bugg, ASID, DDCD, vice president for design and author of five books on interior design and decorating. “As the best of more than 250 entries, these room designs can provide inspiring ideas for making one’s home more beautiful and inviting.”

The showcase categories are: Living rooms, family rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, children’s rooms, bathrooms, home offices, window treatments, outdoor spaces, commercial spaces, and miscellaneous.
