May 18, 2017 // Franchising.com // ISELIN, N.J. – When Lightbridge Academy first opened its doors for business almost 20 years ago, it set in motion a mission to establish new standards in the child care industry. Through its signature Circle of Care philosophy that places equal weight on supporting the needs of everyone in a child’s life - including parents, teachers, center owners and local communities - the brand tapped into previously unseen potential within the booming educational child care segment.
Today, that strong momentum is still evident across Lightbridge Academy’s entire franchise system, which has grown to 89 child care centers that are either open or in development. And with plans to break into three key development markets over the next three to five years in addition to opening 16 new centers in 2017, it’s clear that the brand isn’t slowing down.
Lightbridge Academy’s Circle of Care has already extended its reach in new communities this year. The brand opened three new centers, signed five new franchises and is also poised to sign another ten deals before the end of this year. Focused on a multitude of ground breakings and grand opening celebrations, 2017 will be a year of significant development.
In an effort to build on those openings and capitalize on the rising demand for top tier child care services, Lightbridge Academy is actively expanding its reach outside of its home base in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states. And in order to make its expansion goals a reality, the brand is growing through both franchise and company owned locations.
“There’s a definite trend in our annual gross revenues and net income - they’re increasing year-over-year across our entire system,” said Mark Mele, Lightbridge Academy’s senior vice president of franchise sales. “With such a high level of success in our current markets, it’s a natural next step for the Lightbridge Academy brand to continue expanding with the help of franchisees that are the right fit. And by adding to that momentum through new corporate locations, we’re positioned for record breaking growth in the months and years ahead.”
Lightbridge Academy has identified three states in which its model matches perfectly with the surrounding demographics: Florida, North Carolina and Ohio. Each state offers major development markets that provide unlimited growth potential for the brand and its owners, including Orlando, Miami and Fort Lauderdale in Florida; Charlotte, Greensboro and Raleigh in North Carolina and Cleveland, Columbus and Cincinnati in Ohio.
Not only do those cities fit into Lightbridge Academy’s expansion plans from a regional perspective, they’re also similar to the brand’s core markets where its system has already proven itself to be successful. Each area is filled with busy families and working parents who are looking to enroll their children in an educational child care program that caters to their needs. That’s why Lightbridge Academy has its sights set on quadrupling its size over the next three to five years - the brand is planning to sell between 60 and 80 franchises across Florida, North Carolina and Ohio in addition to adding another 40 units in its core states of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Northern Virginia.
“Since we started franchising in 2011, we have been creating a strong presence in our core markets throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states, where working families are embracing our services as the perfect solution for them and for their children’s educational needs,” said Lightbridge Academy founder and CEO Guy Falzarano. “That strong foundation is now enabling us to expand into new communities at rapid rates. Through this strategic and calculated growth initiative, we’re confident that we’ll be able to quadruple our size within the next five years.”
Established in 1997, Lightbridge Academy provides early education and child care to children ages six weeks through kindergarten, as well as special programming for children up to 10 years old during school holidays, breaks and summer camp. The company franchised in 2011 in an effort to expand their distinctive concept throughout the Northeast; it currently has over 89 child care centers either open, under construction or in development throughout Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia. Founded by Guy and Julia Falzarano, the family remains deeply involved in the company, from Guy Falzarano as CEO to multiple grandchildren enrolled in the child care facilities.
